This is the second member of my new Joe Team sub-group. He is called Jonah, and his specialty is extraction.

Background: GI Joe has been fighting Cobra for years now, without the success their founder had hoped for: the demise of the Cobra organization and fall of Cobra Island! Not only that, but Cobra has grown larger and gained support (although mostly from corrupt politians and Third World Nations), making them even more brazen in their grab at power.

As Cobra has gained media attention and began portraying themselves as a legitimate government, with "the best interests" of the world in general as their motivation, the Joes have been forced to sit back and wait; wait until the proof of Cobra Commander's plans to bring the world's leaders and people to their knees. For this reason, the Joe's formed a sub-group, who don't fight Cobra "fair" on the battlefield, but take it to them, Black-Ops style.

This new sub-team, known simply as The Dark, answers to Stalker only; the higher ups in GI Joe don't want to know the missions that he sends them on, so they won't have to lie about their knowledge of them at a later time. The members of The Dark are Joes, but aside from General Hawk, Duke and Stalker, only they among the Joes know this team even exists.

Team member bio:

File Name: Jonathon Blake
Code Name: Jonah

Jonah is The Dark's extraction man: his main objective is getting the team out alive. A mechanical whiz, Jonah can fix most any motorized vehicle out there, and can drive, fly or sail it to boot. However, don't let this fool you, as he is as capable as any member of the team, and provides ground cover for them when necessary.

From a recent debriefing, Thin Lizzie reported that Jonah stepped into the role of another member of the team who had been injured. She stated that he not only was not only adequate in doing so, but handled the assignment as if it had been his from the start. Also, she credits Jonah for getting the wounded member out of the hot zone and back to the base for medical attention after the mission was completed.

Note: Jonah is almost obsessive/compulsive when it comes to his vehicles, working on them before and after missions to make certain that they are in the highest performance condition possible. He says, "I don't want to get anyone killed because I was too lazy to give the extraction craft the care needed to keep it running from start to finish of the mission."

I like the figure, and the parts choices. I love the bio.

As gritty as you've made the bio, and body for the figure, I'm not sure that head is the right choice...it just seems to have a smile and a softness that seems out of place in the world you're trying to create.

It doesn't really have a smile on it... Maybe a bit of a smirk, but just slight if that. The head is from Tomahawk, which was also used on Clutch and Benchpress, and I never thought it looked like any of them were smiling. Maybe it's just the way I painted it? Oh well. Thanks for the advice though, maybe I can find a way to make him look thougher down the road...

Great write up. And I really like the red beard choice- offsets the darker colors nicely.

Really cool figure, great work on dry-brushing his equipment. I like the back story as well especially your interpretation of Cobra.

It's actually from Tomahawk, but it's the same sculpt. Thanks for all the comments guys, they are appreciated.

I like the head choice. I think the smirk gives him and ego, a man who enjoys what he does. Probably has a chip on his shoulder too that keeps him highly motivated.

The sho if him jumping/sliding across the crate is a really good acrion shot. That one is getting filed away for future use for sure.

it does look like he has a smirk but looking at clutch here and tomahawk here, he looks grumpy. it must be in the paint app or lighting maybe.
