Stygian War Chariot:This has been a long term project for about two months now. When I decided to remake my Thoth Amon, I started thinking about giving him a ride. I had seen various illustrations of the character in chariots and wanted to do something similar. I looked at the Playmobil and papo Egyptian and Roman chariots to see if I could modify them to the look I wanted, but there was not much challenge in that, so I decided to scratch build it. First of all, I looked at horses. I could not find one that really appealed to me, so I thought of Egypt. Sand. Camels. Papo did a very nice model, but it looked quite neutral. I sprayed them black, highlighted with three shades of grey and repainted their eyes. I suddenly had the most evil, foul tempered creatures ever to roam the desert. For the harness, I used vinyl coach trim with gold stickers. The cab was quite easy. I cut an arch of MDF for the base, used Microsoft Digital Image Suite to create the shape for the walls and cut a piece of plasticard to size. I then covered it in green stuff and pressed aluminium mesh into it to give it a scaled effect. The band across the top is curtain cord. It actually came in green and gold. The gold filigree are stickers I bought from a craft shop. At the last moment I decided to add a leather thong as reins. The wheels I bought ready made out of a hobby catalogue, just needed painting and spikes and axle added.
Overall, I am delighted with it. This is the first time I have attempted something like this and is the first vehicle I have made for any figures. The driver was an elenth hour addition. I had made the cab a little bigger originally, and suddenly thought it might look even better with a driver in it than just Thoth Amon alone.
