Found some old pics lying in a drawer today, thought you guys might enjoy a trip through the Wayback Machine. These pictures are so old they were shot with a film camera. I had to scan some 3x5's to put 'em on line. So, they're circa 1995 or thenabouts. Hopefully I haven't already posted these at one time or another.

The Batmobiles would hold 2 figures. The 1950 car was my first near-total scrachbuild; only the wheels and axles came from somewhere else. The 1990's car was a heavily modified 1995 Trans Am model kit. The wheels and tires came from a early 90's 1/18 Mustang concept car. Then I didn't like the wheels, so I just blanked 'em out until I could put something else in place.

These were a part of a series of Batmobiles I did back in the day. I still have the cars; I may have to pull them out of storage and take some pics.

Next up is the 1980 Batplane, a heavily modified Conquest. Hey, it was the only fighter jet available at the time. I removed the cockpit tub and built a new on to accept a small passenger in the rear of the cockpit. New wings, rudder, and a piece of steel coathanger for a pitot tube. This was before making decals at home; the logos on the plane are more or less decopaged in place. Included in the pics are some drawings I made while deciding what mods to make.

Projects like these went a long way to convince me to learn how to build from scratch.

Yep, I built a Quinjet before the one I'm currently plugging away on. This one is, surprise surprise, a heavily modified Joe shuttle. The tile detail on the hull was all filled in with carpenters' wood putty and sanded smooth. The interior tub was removed and a new interior scratchbuilt. Seating for five available through the removable canopy.

How old is this custom? You could still buy a shuttle off the shelf at the time.

That Quinjet turned out quite well!

BTW does anyone know why it's called the Quinjet? Seems like an odd name...
