Don't know if anyone really cares at this point, but I was at Marshall's today, and to my surprise, they had DTC figures for sale. While the movie Joes are 4$, the DTC ones were priced at $7. I didn't buy any because I already own them, but if anyone wants to fill some holes in their collection, there you go. Of course, I don't know if this was just a freak anomaly at this one store or if someone found a warehouse full of DTC figs and they are slowly making their way out to discounters.

Personally, I'm waiting for PoC to start showing up, so I can buy multiples of the figures with cool gear!

They had 2 each of Spirit, Scrap Iron, Salvo and 1 Medi-Viper from what I recall.

Hmmm I wonder if someone just used the stickers to return them. $7 is a bit much. :-/

Dunno. 2 of each sounds like a case. 7 is steep, but I could see myself maybe picking some up for parts if I actually ran into any in store.

Wow. All of those but the Med Viper are absolute trash. Not worth $.05

IMO, naturally

Psychoviper, which Marshall's store had these?
I see your location, and I just saw 2 Spirits, Salvo, Scrap-Iron, and a Medi-Viper at a Marshall's in that area. All $6.99. I'm thinking we might have gone to the same store.

There is a guy in that area that is known by the locals for returning old items with newer price tags. He's been doing it for years and has hit many stores.

This is exactly what it has to be. My Marshalls had none. I doubt they would price them that much too. RoC/25th has been $3.99-$4.99

This was the store in Culver City, next to Fox Hills mall. And your explanation makes a lot of sense, I had not known about this guy. I visited 2 other Marshall's over the weekend (in Torrance) and neither of them had any DTC. (Plenty of movie Storm Shadows though!)

It's also worth noting that DTC figures were in cases of 8 (1 each of 4 Character, 2 each of 2 Army Builder) Granted, it's possible with a store like Marshals that the cases would be opened at their distribution location and not a full case would be shipped to each store in crates...

But until you start to see this reported in more than one geographical region, I would suspect the local making returns is more likely.

Yeah, that's his AO. Hard to believe the guy has gotten away with it for so long. I don't know how, but the locals even know his name. Shoot, there might even be a "bounty" on the guy's head for all I know.

I've found items at other stores, sometimes older items, sometimes not even Joe items, all from him.
Guys got a good scam going. :-|

That's exactly what happens.

Only tangentially related, but I was at TJ Maxx today and they had 16 pegs all filled to the max with movie figs. 16!!!!!!!! Granted most of them were Dukes and Storm Shadows, but when was the last time Toys R Us or Target or WalMart had anywhere near that many pegs dedicated to Joe? Back in the 90s?

I think long after humans have become extinct, and an alien civilization from another galaxy sends some anthropologist to explore our culture, there will only be 3 remnants of human civilization left: the Pyramids in Egypt, AOL cds, and moc RoC figures.

The funny part is, even though it mostly looks like the right wave, I've never seen a RoC Kamakura figure.
