Yeah...I kept waiting for the joke...the art, however, is insane for a webcomic.

The Gutters doesn't have a regular artist. Ryan Sohmer (Looking for Group, Least I Could Do) writes them all and he hires guest artists from the comics industry. He doesn't do GI Joe often, although issue #27 was pretty good.

The strip is unbelievably funny, apt, and gorgeous as often as it falls flat or confuses.

I read this late last night...I read it again...The art was fantastic but where they looking for a joke there? I thought it was just plain not creative whatsoever.

Actually I think was supposed to be a blow to the recent Iowa caucus. You know, all the same but with different views..

There were jokes but it's like joking about contractors on the Death Star... those jokes are a old as the show now.

That's what I think was supposed to be going on too, but was damned ineffectual.

Just saying this as a guy who has done the daily comic updates, (ok photos, but so what) you can't write a gem every time, but at the least you can see the potential after the fact and often even when the joke falls flat you can see the intent and often where the writer was trying to make something.

That's why I think this failed, there is on clear or even vauge point to be made to laugh at. It almost reads like a stoner conversation while watching CNN of, "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if the COBRA characters were the candiates, YEAH WOW!" to which the other stoner goes "Dude, you're high, shut up" except there wasn't an extra stoner in this case.
