This was a commission I did for one of my brother's friends. He wanted to give a custom figure of his mom to her for Christmas. His idea was to put a likeness of her head on a Super Girl or Wonder Woman body.
This was the first draft.
He wanted the hair to be darker and change out the "S" for a "M" as in mom. This met his approval.
I used a MU Spider Woman body with a ROC Cover Girl head. The joint pegs for the arms and legs were hidden using green stuff. Stryene strips were used for the top of the boots and belt. The glasses are from the figure packaging and the cape and skirt were made from a red bandana.
Props to Miked for the inspiration on the cape and skirt. I used the technique from his
Billowing (or any other kind for that matter) cape tutorial. A hair dryer really sped up the process.
Next I was asked to make some small scale books that his mom liked and that he had written along with any librarian accessories I could think of. I came up with the library cart (made out of styrene) and a bunch of books using photoshop and photos found online printed out on semi-gloss paper.
Here is the cart before paint.
After painting.
Then the books. Three of them were written by the guy who commissioned the piece and one was written by my brother. She's a fan of dictionaries, the Wizard of Oz, and "We Were There" childrens book series so that's where the rest came from.
Books proudly displayed on the cart.
And the completed piece.
