This was a commission I did for one of my brother's friends. He wanted to give a custom figure of his mom to her for Christmas. His idea was to put a likeness of her head on a Super Girl or Wonder Woman body.

This was the first draft.

Image

He wanted the hair to be darker and change out the "S" for a "M" as in mom. This met his approval.

I used a MU Spider Woman body with a ROC Cover Girl head. The joint pegs for the arms and legs were hidden using green stuff. Stryene strips were used for the top of the boots and belt. The glasses are from the figure packaging and the cape and skirt were made from a red bandana.

Props to Miked for the inspiration on the cape and skirt. I used the technique from his Billowing (or any other kind for that matter) cape tutorial. A hair dryer really sped up the process.

Next I was asked to make some small scale books that his mom liked and that he had written along with any librarian accessories I could think of. I came up with the library cart (made out of styrene) and a bunch of books using photoshop and photos found online printed out on semi-gloss paper.

Here is the cart before paint.

After painting.

Then the books. Three of them were written by the guy who commissioned the piece and one was written by my brother. She's a fan of dictionaries, the Wizard of Oz, and "We Were There" childrens book series so that's where the rest came from.

Books proudly displayed on the cart.

And the completed piece.

Well let me say the figure is pretty cool. Technically well done, for sure. Not how I'd want to portray my mom, but so be it,

That said - Holy "LASER BLAST" that cart is cool. The books look just like how they'd look coming from a library too. Seriously. wow.

Awesome detail work as always my man!

The custom is good but the library cart is amazingly well done. You nailed that one curved frame and wheels and all.

.....i'm curious as to how your friends mother received the gift. Regardless...nice work :) It looks like a fun piece and will definitely be a conversation starter.

Very cool. Only additions might be Wal-Mart bags with groceries and a soccer ball.

Wow, top top notch work! I echo Pluv's comments about the cart. Does the real life mom have such enormous...talents?
