Hello all,

The submissions are in! I'd like to say that there are lots of entries. Unfortunately there are only two for the Squadron Category. and one each for the other two.

However, that's all that's unfortunate about the contest as the entries are magnificent!

Initially I was just going to cancel the contest if I got less than 5 entries per category. However, I do not feel this would be fair for the two entrants as their work is simply amazing and it deserves to be displayed and rewarded.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about check this out:

O I have decided to do the following:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=33058
http://gijac.blogspot.com.au/2012_04_01_archive.html

1. Daremo and Asphalt were the only two to really compete against each other. Asphalt also submitted one entry for the other two categories. He worked very hard! However, since there were no other entries I decided to 'cancel' those two categories, I'll show the images anyway.
2. Daremo and Asphalt will both receive $50 each from me. (so guys pm me with your paypal details and you'll receive the cash by the end of the month or early August. Again I believe this is a better outcome than just cancelling outright
3. Daremo and Asphalt will both receive a first prize set each from Darkwynter and an additional head for submitting an entry. (guys please pm Pluv with your addresses so he can send them to you!) Thanks again Pluv!
4. I will be donating $100 to this site. Pluv does some amazing work here! And I've never dealt with a nicer guy on-line! Again payment will be made late this month early next.
5. I will also be making a big purchase from the angelforge at some point I cannot express how grateful I am to DarkWynter for his contributions and support!

Personally, I am wondering why the contest didn't succeed. I think I'll be taking a break for a while and put the advanced version of it on hold. I don't see a purpose if there isn't really much interest, I may add a survey here to see why people didn't participate. I honestly hope it wasn't because of the reading! I mean I couldn't think of better prizes!

However, if you are interested, stay tuned to my blog. I will be adding additional rules and 'missions' to the basic rules. I think that by October, I will release the Zombie missions.

On the positive side, I had the pleasure of dealing with some amazing people, I can not thank Pluv and DarkWynter enough! I also want to mention that I think the work of Asphalt and Dartemo is awesome I am so glad I didn't go up against them! In the end I am really happy that people are at least giving it a go!

Finally, if you haven't already, check out my blog! get those figures and customs off your shelf and get them battling each other!

On to the pictures

Here's the rest of the squad! These figures are just amazing, they give out a real 'road warrior' 'post apocalyptic' vibe! The use of weapons was inspired, this is what the game is all about!

The green and the hats really give the group a really cohesive look. Great choice of parts and figures. Daremo, I have asked Asphalt to submit a battle report to my blog, I was wondering if you could do the same? I would love to see these guys in action!

The crushing blow!

Asphalt creatively enhanced the rules by allowing figures to pick up boulders in order to crush their opponents!

Wow, this obviously took a lot of time from both customizers.

The Slayers all look like they stepped right out of a horror movie. They have this maniacal look. Slayers indeed!
I like Ocho best. Where's his drill from?

The Jade Dragons are cool too. Peacemaker is sweet: a samurai-ish cowboy!
Looking at the Jade Dragons somehow John Woo comes to my mind. That's positive.

Thank you so much for hosting the contest. I had a blast putting these guys together. I would guess the reason more people didn't participate was the 5 figure requirement. I know that was the hardest part for me. I am a slow customizer, and got them in with very little time to spare. I haven't written up the battle report yet. But I am currently out of town so I may not get to it for a while. My notes are at home.
D your ninjas look great. What do you think of my first ever ninja, Shrike?

I love the idea of a joe scale wargame. I have been watching with interest but I dont really have anypne to play with in the area I live. More skills ect. would be nice. I thought about making an entry but to be honest im lazy :( I know sad. I do have alot of figures that are warhammer 40k based. My biggest problem is the not having anyone to play with, or I would have more ideas. but thnks for the work you have put into the game, I do hope you dont let this get you down and keep working on it. thnks glenn

Those entries are great. I think a poll would be really helpful bevause I don't think the lack of interest came from the game concept itself. My guess would be the team aspect and the timing of the contest.

Thanks for a great challenge! After seeing Asphalt's team, I wished that I did a better job painting and detailing my squad :/ His team looks awesome! I should have tried to do my juggernaut/cannon fodder style team too. Here's what I originally had come up with before changing things around last minute.

Image

I was also working on a battle ground that was fitting for the Jade Dragons. I always plan big but I'm terrible at managing my time and can never seem to get much done. Here's a few things that I had planned to use, a gate and a house for it. I have other wall sections started but they're still incomplete. I still haven't found anyone to play the game with either. There's some more photos of them here.

I think the the game concept is awesome. One thing I notice with custom contests is that there isn't usually a lot of entries if you make it mandatory to have more than one figure for an entry. Maybe if you allowed people to choose to enter a leader or a trooper with the option of doing the whole squad you'd get a better turnout. Or you have a few leaders and everyone has to make a trooper for one of the leader's squads. At the end you could decide who makes the team. The prizes that you offered were excellent, I don't think that's the problem.

There never seems to be a big response for dios either. Out of all the custom contests that I've held, dios and vehicles are no where near as popular as just figures. Some more examples may help to show everyone what you're looking for. It might also help to do some quick tutorials on making squads and battleground scenery. You can design some great game boards with the PTE stuff alone. There is a pretty good selection of Joe stuff that would work too. And there's no limit what you can make from card board, foam board, styrene, styrofoam, balsa wood, and cheap craft paint.

Thanks again for opportunity to do something new with my customizing skills. I'm working with a good friend on a custom con to be held in Chicago hopefully next April, and one of the things we want to do is have a game similar to yours. The scenery I made above will be perfect for it too.

And Sean, Shrike kicks ass! I dig the head sculpt you used there too. Your paints keep getting better and better. I don't think my team would stand a chance ;)

Simply awesome stuff Daremo! Feel free to print out and distribute copies of my game at the con! Better yet play it there! Just link it back to me.

And thank you all for the feedback! I'm not feeling so bad now! In fact I'm inspired

I will most certainly give you credit and have some copies available too.

I just returned from the craft store and now I'm inspired to continue work on some more dio stuff.

I received some awesome casts via Pluv thanks to DarkWynter and the Angel Forge. No surprise that it's the same quality you've come to expect from the master caster of the former Slayer Design Studio. Thanks again to G.I.JAC for the contest and Pluv and DarkWynter for the schwag. I hope there's a chance for another contest. Here's what could have been had just for entering:
