found this today while taking Luke to Science Central. The place itself is mildly entertaining for kids (Luke enjoyed it) and mostly boring for adults. But it was air conditioned, and was something to do outside of the house without standing in 105 degree heat.

anyway, I nabbed this astronaut guy (1:18) with included moon rover. At first I wasn't sure about the $12.99 price tage, because the figure is obviously pretty cheap. But the rover and the accessories alone make it worth it. Plus, I think I can use the head, once it's painted up right, for something. And the helmet, which caught my eye first, is pretty cool. Even has a sliding sun shield that works.

For the figure, I'll either cut off what I need from it, or bash better articulated parts to him. What I can't decide is whether authentic astronaut is how I want to go, or to simply use them for some sci-fi themed customs.

They also had some chap mei animal themed sets I had not seen before, even at TRU. Took pics on my phone, and will post them here when I upload them.

Here's the one I bought though:

That's not a bad deal. The figure is perfect for a zombie astronaut.

The rover looks like a good base for an EOD robot.

NICE rover. Impressive set of accessories, too, and the figure's not that bad. Looks to have articulation at the elbows and knees, as well as arms and legs. Those astronaut suits aren't easy to move around in, really. The head, at least in this photo, looks a fair bit like the original Ace!

For $13 that is a good deal of play value. Can you please show us the rover all set up when you get a chance?

will try to do so tonight. The telescope/survey device? (a little help here?) is an awesome looking accessory. The rover is surprisingly well made. the figure isn't the most exciting part of it by any means. But as Trekker noted, the articulation may well be properly fitting for that type of suit anyway.

Are you going to post pics of the Chap Mei sets "

I like the Space set, that rover is cool indeed and the Astronaught with a sliding sun shield makes that figure worthy of collecting.

here are the other Chap Mei sets I found but did not buy. They may be old news to you guys, but I had never seen these specific sets before:

The jeep type vehicle is a straight up repaint, but i dunno about that dino, the polar bear looks like a new sculpt and i'm not sure about that ski mobile, both sets look cool.

The ski mobile is a repaint, too, just missing some add-ons. It's cool, but a bit too big for Joes.
