It has been A LOONG time since I posted any customs. Life continues to leave little room for custom making, so I've been making these when I have the time over the last year. I recently took a bunch of newer and older photos of customs and posted them up on the new True Gritt Customs Facebook page. Here you will find customs of DC figures, Marvel, Transformers, GI Joe, Star Trek and more. If you're interested swing by and hit like.

Thanks and Enjoy!
Backblast
I wanted this guy to be a big dude. Especially in his upper chest and shoulder area. I figured since he was launching SAM's off of his shoulder he should be a bigger dude. Also wanted to keep the tough looking face that the original had. Always felt that sculpt looked like Charles Bronson. I heated up the figures mouth to make it look slightly different from Mutt.
Parts:
Backblast
head -mutt modded changed the shape of the jaw, heated up his lip and pushed it in place to close his "growl". Also added some extra mustache.
arms -major barrage glued on knife and sculpted arm band
gloves s-gt stone
torso -poc recondo modded had to get rid of the straps on the front and then sculpted the top shoulder straps as well as his belt.
upper legs resolute viper modded
knee pads -viper
boots -zartan glued on gun and holster
feet -destro
gun -pit troooper vest gun
SAM -poc duke and cobra shock trooper bazooka combined
Flint
I'm always playing around with the Flint customs I've made. I haven't made one yet that I feel totally nails the character for me. The Resolute head was such a great sculpt that I wanted to put it on this custom and then add some more involved webgear to him. Lastly I sculpted on a pouch to his left leg to bring it closer inline with the original figure and balance the look out.
Parts:
head
-resolute duke
torso -shipwreck
arms -storm shadow modded sculpted cuffs
gloves -flint
legs -flint left side pouch sculpted to resemble right.
webgear -flint bullets, cobra trooper harness, cobra officer belt
Gnawgahyde
I really liked the Dreadnoks set, buuuut I felt many of the figures were incomplete or were near missed. With Gnawgahyde I wanted to get that really bulky look that the original figure had and how it looked on Operation Dragonfire cartoon. I also wanted to give him pants that were gave off more of a jeans/hunter feel. Lastly I got rid of that horrible smile by giving him his nice big ole' mustache back
Parts
head -gnawgahyde
torso -gung ho
arms -wolverine origins figure
legs -roc pit commando
knife -stalker
Law
This guy has literally been done for over a year. I just never got around to putting the final touches on him. Before that it was finding a head that looked how I wanted. The head is a Vintage Revenge of the Sith Anakin. I yanked off his hair and I sculpted on some new fuzz for the fuzz .
Parts
head -vintage star wars anakin skywaler/darth vaded
torso -outback
upper arms -storm shadow
lower arms -flint
legs roc -repeater
helmet -poc dusty
vest -wild bill modded, holster, badge, pouches, riot control gas canister.
Raptor
This falls in line with how to make a ridiculous figure appealing. I took on that personal challenge a while ago with my Crystal Ball custom. For Raptor I wanted him to come across a creepy and weird. A bunch of other customizers had the idea of using the Rise of Cobra Zartan and I was definitely inspired by those choices. I felt that Raptor would be a scary dude who was a recluse. The Cobra's only dealt with him when they needed his particular tracking skills but even they don't want to deal with him much.
Parts
figure -roc zartan
cowl -modded
feet -destro pilot figure
Zandar
I always dug Zandar, just though he was cool. I liked the Hasbro version but there were some details that seemed to be missing that prevented me from really enjoying the figure. I went about giving him a cast of the custom Zandar head I made during the JvsC era. Added pants details, new boots, etc and I was finally happy.
head -true gritt custom casted head modded darth maul head
torso, ar
ms -zandar modded with sculpted belt and webbing
upper legs -VvsV slice added knife and straps
lower legs -viper
knife -gnawgahyde
Zanzibar
Probably the weakest attempt from Hasbro. There are certain things that give characters their iconic looks or make them stick out in your head. Zanzibar, for me, had that weird pirate shirt going on. After that you could do whatever you wanted but the shirt needed to be there. I sculpted those details and the details on his pants and there he was. Also I wanted something fun for him on his gun so I very patiently painted "Pirate Life" on his gun. Right at the top of the nozzle are exclamation points, just something I thought was odd and cool.
parts
entire figure -zanzibar modded chest, knife placement
gun -JvsC gun
More stuff to come in the upcoming weeks. I have a Battleforce 2000 set I've been working on as well as a few other things.
