Thanks to Texy for pointing out this story. Kind of cool for showing some of the behind the scenes of the toy factories.

considering the world population, these workers, have food, a place to live, and some money, that's better then most of the world at large.

Sucks ain't it?
If only the recent rise of prices in the toy business were due to better conditions for these workers, but we all know that ain't the case.
The factory owner and manager each take a cut, the broker takes a cut, then the toy company has to make a profit and then the retail store takes another cut.

The general public is not socially responsible enough to pay the full price of toys if they were done locally.
Even if they were done by non-union workers at minimum wage, the toys would cost too much. Many already wait for clearance, imagine how an action figure would cost if the toys were done by folks who worked for $8 / hour.

I'm sorry, I know this is supposed to be a serious topic but that picture of the woman holding the 2 doll heads in front of her boobs just makes me laugh. :darkjedi:

Oh man, the repetitive monotony must be just soul crushing.... alienation indeed....

That's the terrible, awful thing about our current world economic system; you pretty much can't buy anything without playing into the exploitation of the powerless and poor. Even simple items like chocolate (brought to you by child slave labor) or burgers (brought to you by deforestation and displacement of the local population) come at a severe price. I'm not sure what a realistic solution would be....
