I know some of this is cool stuff but this situation validates my reasoning for my recent collection reduction. No one in my family would know what to do with it anyway and after awhile, these things starts to own you. I think you have to have purpose in your collecting desires. I never understood amassing random loose/incomplete figures or stock piling broken or partial vehicles.

Some good points.

I agree, the attention to detail on the customs is pretty telling. Look at those nazi customs. That is some pretty specific paint on the camo and insignias. http://www.timedlive.com/lot_images/93889/000412_09.jpg

What head is that on the far right?

I'm guessing both the head, and the hat, are from a non-Joe line.

So I think that's pretty much it for the David Jensen Estate listings...

If anybody won this Lot
L733 RARE Gi Joe 1986 88 Alley Viper Iron Grenadiers Metal Head Crystal Ball | eBay

I'm interested in the Crystal Ball figure (and the Cirtificate of Provenance the auction company will include with the lot)

I didn't win that particular auction, but I was thrilled to win one of them today. If I was going to have something from his collection, I wanted it to be something that I would use rather than just stash it away somewhere, so I only bid on a couple of the auctions that had items of interest. I've got plans to customize a couple of the items from the lot: after seeing what he did with his collection, it seems like the appropriate thing to do.

Ditto...in all the auctions, in all the lots of figures and such... this was the ONLY Crystal Ball I saw... I think I might have seen 1 pair of CB legs on a figure...but that was about it

Because this guy knew Crystal Ball sucks.

That would make him quite popular in certain circles. :-P

David Jensen was a vietnam vet who collected massive amounts of war related toys back in the 80's so he could design battle recreations, he also was involving in design related to these recreations including modifying some barbies (another story). He has since passed (FL) but before he did sold his collection to an eBay VP's family and it sat for years in a storage bin until we were called to place his collection up for absolute auction. We are Estate Road Show Auctions LLC from Killen AL and we are the only auctioneers who sell using ebay (Live). His collection is not done, still have more GI Joes and a massive amount of toys which had to be relisted because of a bad buyer in China. Just monitor our site at www.estateroadshow.com and more should show up in Jan 2013. Enjoy, if he was alive this collection would have never been sold.

Good to know, and sorry about the bad sale.

Just a note, I know that you guys may not be too far into knowing exactly what you're selling, but there are a few lots, that if oyou have to relist them might do better together and sell at a better rate. I am thinking specifically about the helicopters without blades, and the blades that you have for them, as well as some of the figures who are worth way more with thier original weapons.

Here's a good resource for matching them up should you be interested in doing so.

www.yojoe.com.

best of luck!
