Were kids in the past more gentle with their action figures?

I remember some vipers shot down my tomahawk into a tree in the backyard.
It got stuck and a rescue mission started..

A lot of joes burned, lost limbs and got crushed in that attempt.
I think a Trubble Bubble even got smashed against the wall with a brick

Those were the good old days, not caring about worth!

This is also the case. My Son has some action figures, but he's never really played with them. The only "toys" he actually uses are Lego, but he moslty builds the set and it sits there, only making up stuff with the extra tub of bricks.
