Just wanted to put my two cents in on the preview- my wife and I went to go see Zero Dark Thirty last night, and snuck into Hansel and Gretel to watch the Retaliation preview. I was excited about this movie before, but this preview was absolutely awesome. The Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow fight sequence in the monastery hallway was awesomely choreographed (I guess Chu's dance movie experience may have come in handy there). Then it spilled out onto the mountainside, and the zip line fight with the red ninjas started. This part was even more awesome- the fight was unlike anything I've ever seen on film, and the 3D looked great. Then it cut to some different scenes, most of which we've seen before, with Roadblock, Joe Colton, Lady Jaye, etc. Interestingly enough, no Channing Tatum in the whole 4 minutes. After watching it, my wife even asked if he was still in this one.
Overall, it definitely added to my excitement, and you can watch this and you definitely know this is a G.I. Joe movie. In just four minutes I caught a few easter eggs- some definite homages to "Silent Interlude". One other thing I'll add is that there were several other 3-D previews before this one. Jack the Giant Slayer and The Great and Powerful Oz, which were made for 3-D, and the 3-D conversions for Top Gun and Jurassic Park. The 3-D for Retaliation was every bit as impressive as the first two- I would have never guessed it was post-converted. Obviously, I was excited after seeing it, and I asked my wife what she thought- "It definitely looks wayyy better than the first one". Considering the star power and great previews, I really think this movie has a chance to be more successful than the first one.
