Imperial Technicians

Imperial Technicians make up the backbone of the noncombat Imperial Forces. Technicians do everything from repairs and maintenance to janitorial duties in every branch of the Imperial Services. Although they serve in noncombat roles, each Imperial Technician still goes through basic infantry training when they enlist.

I made 12 of them for this project:


These guys are basically just "accessory swaps" as I disliked the helmets from the K-Mart AT-ST Crew sets. They are a bit more complex than just slapping a new hat on them though- 9 of the hats were casts by my friend Clint (Clonehead from www.imperialshipyards.net) and had to be sanded/primed/painted to match the other 3 non-cast hats (from Juno Eclipse figures). I also fixed some of the factory paint apps on all 12 figures.

Are you going to track down the Imperial scanning crew set when it comes out? You just need the accessories from that for all of them.

I don't see any moustaches or beards, was that done on purpose?

Not a lot of facial hair on lower level imperials. Admiral Ozzel had a mustache, but then again he was a Fleet Admiral.

I'm going with the Imperial Navy having a rule about facial hair.

Pretty much what Dark Jedi said. There really isn't much evidence of facial hair anywhere in the rank and file Imperial Service. Key, higher ranking officers have been seen with facial hair- the aforementioned Admiral Ozzel ('stache) and the Expanded Universe's Baron Fel (goatee) are really the only ones that come to mind.

Pluv- I plan on getting 6 of the Scanning Crew sets as their uniforms are actually different (darker gray, have code cylinders on upper sleeves, no gloves, different belt, etc.) than these guys anyway. You can never have enough different types of Imperial Troopers to populate my eventual Imperial Garrison dio
