Took and xacto to the enchantress and scarlett witch heads.
Put on a base coat. I plan to do a silver or black dry brush to them, and touch up the undersides.
Thanks for the advice, making them less "magical" helped a bunch

Just a bunch of head swaps and light paint on necks to expand my cadre of rebel pilots.
First up, some advice:

On these two females I thought their "headpieces" would be some accoutrement to keep their long hair out of the way during flight/combat. I had considered painting them tan/beige or black, or leaving them red and green for their squadron colors.

Question 1: Should I paint, and if so, what color?
Question 2: Should I carve down a bit the tips?

And now the rest.....let me know what you think.

I'd carve them down. Color doesn't matter but once you carve them you'll need to repaint them anyway so go with whatever color you like best for them.

The rest look pretty good.

carve them to look less magical. You want them to look made for practical purposes, not beauty. And I like the idea of having them beige or gray. Otherwise they seem to be there for reasons contrary to the one you have described.

Fun project overall. Let me know if you have need of any more X-Wing bodies. I have metric buttloads of them.

What he said, but tie the color to one already on the suit so it doesn't clash and looks like it should be there. I would recommend the gray of the control pack on the chest if you can match it. You don't want to make it a sparkly color or a bright silver or anything, it should be utilitarian and functional.

Started typing it, got interupted, and didn't send it until after you submitted yours.

But just because we completely agree on an idea doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

Yeah, it's an indicator sure, but not proof.

both are great ideas (both verbose and less so). I am carving up right now.

Yep, you nailed it. The heads now look organic to the rest of the suit.

There are a lot to comment on here, and some of the heads work better than others. As these are pretty much background characters that will get lost in a sea of orange, that doesn't matter as much as if each was a display level custom. Is the green one rit dyed or is that his base color?

Next thing you should try is to super articulate the legs on one or two for good "getting into the cockpit" poses. And maybe filling out the support staff for the inevitable huge dio that must accompany it. ;-)

The green one is an B or A-wing pilot base body from the evolution packs. Hake Farrell I think. I got it from rescuer in a custom care package he sent me in Afghanistan.

Do not hesitate to comment on what does not work and why. I am always open to critiques.
