I put it in spoiler tags in case anyone else is guessing and I happen to be right (which I don't think I am).

Hahahahahahahaha!

While an inspired choice, my Zola is not Lewis Black-- though I find him hilarious :rotfl:

Looks good. You went a very similar route as joemichaels did with his AZ. It even sounds based on your comment that you reached the same warped (yet awesome lol) conclusion as he did, to use a pic of yourself for the screen?

Either way, one of my favorite threads of the year just keeps on going

Agree with drbindy, a really great thread. Love the paint apps and the concept. Flawless execution!

Love the choice for the face, but I wouldn't sell him my everlasting gobstopper.

For as long as I've been aware of the character-- which is pretty much as far back as I can remember-- I've wanted the "perfect" Indiana Jones figure. One of my greatest childhood memories is the day I finally tracked down a 3.75" Indy from Kenner's now-vintage line, and being completely obsessed, until I "lost" him in a random box of toys for about 10 years… since I didn't have an Indiana Jones anymore, I had to make one, but better than the one I had. It started with an "LBC", super-poseable Indy I made as a kid with my old A Real American Hero GI Joes: Tunnel Rat's legs with Grunt (mk 3)'s torso, Blizzard's head, a terrible handmade fedora, but a very-cool, poseable whip made from copper wire. With varying toy lines, parts, and materials, I've been improving upon the recipe ever since.

Completed in March 2013, this untold numbered attempt at the character started with the upper body of an Indy from Hasbro's awesome Indiana Jone's line, bashed onto the lower body of a movie Storm Shadow legs, for super-poseability. Hasbro's sculpt is amazing, but was ruined by their cheap paint job-- I just went in and cleaned up the excellent work that was already there.

I had been planning this piece literally for years, and every year the available pieces got better and better. Before this incarnation, I bought parts to make a more heroically-built Indy, using the body from a Logan figure from the Wolverine: Origins line. It was way too stylized for my more realistic take, however, but who knows… I could always use it to make a piece based on Jim Steranko's bad-ass concept art. I'm a HUGE fan of unproduced designs.

Thank you, Dan! Gents, the upper body and head are both from the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy-- I really did just repaint the brilliant sculpting work that had already been done, but was ruined by shoddy, cheap paint work. I gotta get ahold of a ToD Indy, been jones-ing ( :shifty: ) to make a "battle damaged" version...

Thanks, chaps! It only took umpteen attempts since I was a kid... that is, until the next, more amazing fodder comes along. 'Til that day, though, I think this Indy will do. Definitely wanna do a piece based on Temple of Doom Indy, then, who knows, maybe a Steranko concept figure...

Thank you, dude!

That's a true test, isn't it? I know I've seen countless pieces by all of you guys that I'd want to have in my own collection!

Another update coming soon. Just wrapped up a photo shoot the other night, matter of fact...

Lee Falk's Phantom is a character I remember from an early age because of the Defenders of the Earth cartoon of the mid-80s. Unlike Batman or Spider-Man, however, I didn't become obsessed with The Ghost Who Walks. I never read stacks of his comics growing up... like any great concept, I was more into the idea of The Phantom, and where I could take him and his pulp comic brethren.

Completed in Spring 2013, Kit Walker here is composed almost entirely from common table scraps on my bench: 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes upper body and lower legs/boots, random Cobra Trooper upper legs, and a Destro head. The parts were laying out, and I saw the Destro head in just the right light to sell me...

pretty cool stuff again man. The thought strikes me that this thread needs more Doc Savage ;)

I can't say it firsthand, but I understand that in the novelization for The Rocketeer, the movie reference to Howard Hughes was made as to Doc. Just food for thought ;)
