I see two issues with this approach:

1. The end result in cases like this is that some figures will never get made. There won't be enough overall demand to justify the production of certain figures. And, more often than not, those are the figures that are geared towards collectors. So, you would end up with more cases of major characters over and over again.

There's not 5 other figures in the case they can sell. Think how many times you've seen a figure that looked awesome in preliminary photos but was incredibly disappointing once you got it in hand. If that's the only stock a dealer got, they're stuck with case after case of unsold figures instead of a smaller subset of a diverse case.

Well I'm not sure what the answer is, but when the stores around me (Target, Walmart, TRU, and Dollar General)either don't get any stock, or get one shipment then never restock, and I am forced to pay a higher price online or drive many miles to check stores in other areas, there is something seriously wrong with the way Hasbro distributes its product. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me out there just wishing Hasbro would give me a chance to buy their product at retail prices.

It's such a nice feeling knowing that I don't have to do that. I used to drive all over and look all over online. Now if I don't see a thing, I can sleep knowing its not the end of the world.

I think I'm with you now lance. Two years of hunting nonexistent toys has soured me. I'm gonna concentrate on my customs. If I see a figure or vehicle I like at a store I'll buy it. I guess I'm not cut out for the collecting game.

What you need to do is develop a network of fellow collectors who can help you find stuff and won't raise the price on you. This is how I've found a majority of pre-Retaliation stuff, and some MU stuff since I never find crap around here.

Not Hasbro's fault. You should have seen DePriest at con in the Hasbro booth on his phone at con trying to get to the bottom of some distro issues in real time, in front of a group of guys. I just kind of wandered into the conversation so I don't know how it came up. But he said he had no idea that certain waves or certain figures were not showing up in places as they should have. Not to mention that the film moving around made things worse. It seems to be like a domino effect that starts at both ends. Retailers make some decisions which hold things up or just simply keep things out of stores and then the film gets three release dates on the other end... and then in the middle the warehouses and distro have to do what it is they do.

I have an MBA and am of the opinion that a company is responsible for everything that happens with its product. If they have distribution problems, they need to take control and fix those problems. And its not just the Retaliation delay debacle and toy line, its the Dollar General line as well. I spent so much time tracking down wave 1 to get a full set, I'm not doing it again with wave 2. If they want my money they need to make it easier to find their product without resorting to ebay.

I have to admit, after the Convention I saw more Dollar General figures out. I've gotten a ton of Wave 1 and probably 3+ of Wave 2.

On the other hand, I have yet to see a second Dark Ninja, Firefly, of Lady Jaye on the shelves...

These are not quotes of mine. I even searched my posts to make sure I wasn't going crazy. I have only ever laid eyes on 2 of the wave 2 dollar general figures. I agree wave 1 came out more, but I already traded for a bunch of those on here so it didn't do me much good. I bought some to try and stimulate a wave 2 delivery though.

No matter where or when the Eaglehawk shows up, I am pretty certain that I can draw at least a 60-mile radius around me where there's only one location that will have it; and I just pre-ordered it.

They also don't have any control over HTS. They also can't force online retailers to order enough product to keep prices level with stores like Target and Walmart. It's simply not how the world of distribution works.
