Thanks for all of the kind words guys! Means a lot coming from fellow Marvel enthusiasts, and some of the best customizers around! :-)

As it turns out I decided to do both. I did a drybrushing on his shins lastnight, and when I get home today, I am planning on setting up the light box and getting some better pictures of Abomination, and a few others that have been sitting around for a little while.

Thanks again for looking!

Dude, how did I miss Groot? The detail on the limbs is insane.

Thanks, but I didn't sculpt the limbs.

Groot is made from the arms and legs from a LOTR Treebeard figure and the body of a Diamond Select Ghost Rider figure. His head is a combination of a sculpted face and left over branches and bits from the Treebeard figure.

The only sculpting on the limbs is the rolled up sleeves and pant legs.

Better pictures of Abomination.

Abomination is the body, upper arms, and thighs of a Toy Biz Ch'od figure, the lower arms from a Secret Wars comic pack Hulk, and the lower legs, feet, and head from a MU Abomination figure.

And here is a Cloak fix.
I don't really mind the Black Costume Spidey / Havok body mold, but it didn't seem appropriate for Cloak.
The head and cloak are from MU Cloak, the torso is from MU Adam Warlock, and the arms and legs are from MU Black Bolt.
I see now I need to paint his hip bars too.

A couple ideas totally taken from Chief's outstanding body of work.

First up:

Dum Dum Dugan

Image

He is the MU SHIELD Agent figure with Viper boots, a new-sculpt era Steel Brigade head, with a sculpted mustache.
The bowler is from Lego, and an idea that drbindy gave me with his excellent Dr. Watson custom. It was just what I was looking for, as the one I had sculpted wasn't 100% perfect, and was starting to bug me. The hat is removeable. The idea of this hat also gave me a few other ideas, but those are for later. ;-)
The shotgun is bashed together using a shotgun from an InToyz SWAT figure and a BBi shotgun. I also gave him the belt from the Target MU 2-pack Punisher, because I liked the brown holster on it, while keeping the grey belt.

Since I started off with a SHIELD agent, I will throw in a couple simple ones of my own.

Black Widow and Agent Coulson

Image

I really liked the outfit Widow wore in the films, but missed the gold belt and stingers. So I added them back on. I cut the holsters from the belt the figure came with and attached them to the inside of the classic gold belt. I then swapped the holsters with ones from a couple InToyz SWAT figures and gave her their HK USP pistols too. Finally then gave her the hands from a MU Black Widow figure. I've been using her as my default BW, but the new AA version is making me re-think a couple things with her.

Coulson is a MIB3 figure with what I believe is a BBi head (can't remember exactly where it came from). He also has the badge from a ROC Cover Girl, which I still need to remove the GI Joe eagle from.
EDIT: I forgot that he has ROC Cobra Commander feet and he was given elbow swivels using ROC Torpedo ankle joints.

Finally:

Red Skull

Image

Image

Image

As soon as I saw Chief's awesome Red Skull, I knew I had to copy it. I originally had the SDCC Red Skull head on it, but when I saw the new Avengers Assemble figure I decided to swap the heads. The new one is a brighter red and has that fantastic sneer on it. Plus it can use the hat, that came with it, perfectly.

I can't imagine ever needing another Red Skull figure.
Big props to Chief for many of the ideas used in this update!

Comments and critiques always welcome.
Thanks for looking!

holy crap, that Red Skull is PERFECT!

I'm also really digging that DumDum head -- probably the best version I've seen -

I honestly thought the Dum Dum head was factory and started to think back and remember when a Dum Dum was released. Flawless modification there man.

Thanks guys!
Like I said the Dum Dum recipe was from Chief. When I saw his version I realized I had the parts he used. Since the head looked so good on his Dum Dum I decided to use it too. And of course another big shout out to drbindy for his idea to use Lego hats on 1:18 figures. That was really the missing piece on mine, and it just topped it off perfectly (no pun intended).

Chief's Dum Dum:

drbindy's Dr. Watson:

Within about 10 minutes of seeing Chief's original Red Skull custom, using this body, I had gone on to ebay and bought the figure, specifically to copy his idea. I thought it was just a perfect look for Skull.
The new AA Red Skull has a fantactic sculpt and color to his head, and the added bonus of a removable hat designed to go with it. I was on the fence about getting the new figure, but as soon as I saw the head, I knew I had to get it, just for the head.

Chief's Red Skull contained in this post of awesome:

Thanks again fellas, for the comments and the inspiration! :-D

Okay all are fantastic but I really want that Resolute Destro so I can copy that Skull recipe. That is superb!!! Also I'd love to know for sure what BBI head that is because I think it looks a lot like Darren McGavin's "Kolchak the Night Stalker". Or you could just make an awesome custom of the Old man. Prenominal work and Chief take notice and put some more recipes out there to steal.
