“The Captain Iron Chronicles”
The Captain Iron Chronicles is the longest running and most popular children’s adventure series in all of the Fringe. Presented in traditional Digi-Cast format, it captures the attention of its viewers old school style, rather than via the immersive yet controversial 3D Holo Programs which are the current craze.

Captain Iron is the name of the hero of the series. He once was a man, but is now forever fused to the suit of iron which empowers him. Captain Iron solemnly uses his powers for the benefit of the powerless, even while searching for the evil mastermind responsible for his iron suited imprisonment. Only that man, the evil Dr. Lazarus, might be able to unlock the man from within the suit.

Accompanied by his trusty canine friend, Rusty, and his good natured governmental liaison/handler Commander Nelson Starfire, Captain Iron searches the Fringe for clues to the whereabouts of Dr. Lazarus, helping those he encounters at every step of the way.

The real story here is probably cooler than the fictitious one. The two figures above are, in essence, the first two customs my son ever made. He was barely 3 at the time, if that, and used to like to sit on my lap while I customized. He also liked to sit on the floor going through a bin of heads, and seeing which ones fit different figures. The Commander above was a simple head swap custom my son made and handed to me. (I had previously painted the head for something else). Captain Iron is simply an IM2 figure with a cape from a JLU figure, which I had dyed from yellow to orange. He always paired that figure with that cape. And I eventually set those figures aside for some future use, as his first “customs” (albeit LBCs at that).

Jump ahead a bit and I had started to think on a back story for the characters. Super hero and government handler was just too perfect a fit. As was Captain Iron, under the circumstances. When I dug out the dog figure with the hiked leg, all the pieces just clicked.

At one point I had thoughts on using this as a tv series to add depth to my EXCAL stories. But once I decided to have my son’s figure join me in my sci-fi verse, I knew I wanted to make this a part of it. I think it makes for a fine bit of extra detail to add a bit of depth and immersion when telling the main stories.

Here, along with extra shots of Percy Ajax’s space station apartment, you can see the show in action:

Thanks guys. I know the "customs" are quite simple. But I enjoyed giving them a retro styled kids show storyline. And I was perhaps more proud than I should have been of the shots showing them being broadcast in the dio... lol

This. For "simple" customs, they really trip my trigger as fun. But I also really adore that Mark 1 Iron Man figure.

EDIT: To add proof. A simple dio I did called Mike Power vs The Metal Men of Mars.

Seeing the diorama setup with the figures on the tv is just crazy cool. I mean there is coming up with backstory for props and characters, but this is a whole other level.

Cool customs + great story (fictional and literal interpretations) + detailed dio = Total WIN!

Bonus points for leg lamp (needs a shade though).

Thanks guys! "Whole other level" is what I was shooting for in terms of adding some depth via silliness. The fact I got to tie it in with stuff my son did was icing on the cake.

lol (and thanks). The leg lamp is Ajax's own WIP. Hard to find lamp shades in space it seems. ;)
