So this was last weekend's post-Thanksgiving play date with my 6 year old.
He's been loving the arctic AT 8-wheeler I made, so he swipes it often. It also prompted him to ask for winter coat versions of his favorite team figures.
So with that in mind, and making use of some holiday decorations I had recently picked up, I set up the following (campy? yes) mission: AT HQ needs a Christmas tree, and the Commander wants the best tree they've ever seen. One that can only be found on....
NINJA MOUNTAIN!!!The team was instructed to bring a chain saw, and was advised that wintery conditions made visibility difficult, and they'd be best served by bringing close quarters combat weapons, should their mission to obtain the tree quietly be thwarted by the ninjas.
This is the set up I made for him. Quick and dirty, but I think I got it to convey the feel and vibe I wanted him to get from it.
I didn't take move-by-move pics this time. There was much less drama also. Rather than sneak in, like the team did at Serpent Island, this time the boy chose full-frontal assault. You know, like what works so well on Ninjas. (Being in the holiday spirit, I didn't penalize his strategy or his rolls as much as I might have. This - combined with some highly improbable-Vegas-win-streak-inducing rolls, led to the type of RPG onslaught rarely seen outside of a Raptor sponsored online game attack led by Commander Lance Sputnik...)
you can see in this pic the team also had to contend with a pack of wolves guarding the gate to the upper level. Unseen was a snow leopard which Scarlett captured and the team's dog guarded (who has since been trained and is an active member of the team now).
Midway through the mission, my son once again resorted (apparently) to his Spongebob book of military tactics, by attempting to storm the ninja temple carrying a barrel of fuel (not to ignite mind you, but to bowl the ninjas over Donkey-Kong style.) He also tried this ill-fate "stealth" attack:
Anyway, it was a good time, and the team got their tree. Just thought I'd share
