I did a pretty straight on traditional Race some time back for an old Adventure Team group project. After watching the brief appearance of Race while running through some old episodes of VB on netflix! it occurred to me that my updated figure should be more like that homage, but also a bit Brock-ish too.

Story wise, Race had been missing in my EXCAL continuity. His reemergence in bulked up form should explain that he was away getting the super soldier treatment...

Thoughts on the figure? Understand traditional is not the goal for this one. Anyone remember the story I had started with the Quests so long ago? Need to make a new Benton now too, since I sold the first.

Let me preface this comment by saying I'm not a fan of the Venture Bros . I do not like the cartoon or the way they are drawn.
( He lets the boos, hisses and insults die down )

That being said it's a solid custom and instantly recognizable as both a Venture Bros inspired custom and as Race Bannon.

Other than my pickiness of thinking the pants should have some shading ( I know it's a WIP ), I say so far so good.

Question in the cartoon does he have the weird shirt with the panel or a regular tee shirt like you have?

I don't remember getting a good enough look at it in the show, but I'm sure it's the weird shirt with the panel. I did that one on my older version. I wanted this one to seem a bit updated.

Might actually change the head. It's got the Brock-ish feel to it, but maybe not enough Bannon.

I think that head would be a bit small for this.

But I will listen and try out all suggestions. Though he has cartoony proportions, I think having a less cartoony head would better fit my usual tastes.

The face is good, but I can't unsee Race with the 60's GI Joe comb-to-the-right hair style. That would mean having to sand down and shape the top of the head quite a bit.

Of note, Dr. Quest also cyborged Dynomutt, so get cracking on that one for me too.

Oh hell yes. I've been working on a Quest Family and Blue Falcon/Dynomut series since I finished my Scooby Series. What you did here just blows my mind. Great work all around. I think it's the perfect head for an updated look. Damn man. Now I gotta rethink everything.
