Been a while, but I had to dust this thread off.

Image
@ just finished customs, swapped out the torso on the orc with Lando in Jabba's Palace disguise (had to chop the neck hence the big shawl). The Knight uses a Chap Mei head carved out to fit the ball socket, I had to swap the lower arms out for some spare Henry the Red arms. I just paint matched the blue and red on the solders.

Image

All these figures have just had their heads made removable and interchangeable. They work with the above Chap Mei head too. Eventually I'll have more heads than bodies hence the ability to swap them easily. Random BBI and EPI heads as well as a Joe trooper head.

Image
I've just thrown this guy together, a larger warg Rider to mix up the body types. Still a lot to do on him.

Image
These ladies I started early December, I'm not gonna rush them so I do a little bit more on them every other week. They're inspired by this idea I had for 2 Female Adventures based loosely on Asterix and Obelix.

MU Black Bolt's body as the base for another Orc in progress.

Image

I've got my hands on some Double jointed 10mm Revoltech (the plug fits nice and snuggly on the hole in the thigh of the Bolg figure. I'll have to sink the thigh socket so the Revoltech joint doesn't stick out so much (much like I've been doing to the lower leg.

The Frankensteined Orc on the left has had more sculpting done on his body and head. I've also filed his nose down slightly.

While the Right hand orc uses MU Karnak's body (nice and thin, A Spiderman body?) with a head swap so far.

I'm planning on getting some Alumilite casting substances and trying out casting of armor and gear once some has been sculpted following the guide on the joecustoms wiki. That way it'll be easier to make Orcs on MU bodies with the option to mix and match armor bits.

Would love to see what casting armor surprises are on the way.

For armor pieces I like, I have been having to cut off and bore out the armor from figures that had it. Old fashioned hand crank drill too, since too high a speed makes for larger errors.

Very impressed with what you've go going on.

Great figures, the sculpting and paint apps really bring out the detail on them

All of these are looking fantastic, can't wait to see them finished.

Hey DrSyn,

Have you ever thought of using synthetics for the soft goods? The reason I suggest this is because they can have the edges sealed with a single lit match and not have fraying as that white material does. I use synthetics all the time now and never have fraying of any kind. They come in everything from leatherette, to suedes, to animal/reptile prints, including fur in scale with our figures.

I've treated the edges of material with a little thinned down matte medium to prevent fraying, before. Works great. Right now, I have a bottle of Fray Check. I'm in the process of putting a new ribbon on a fedora and the grosgrain ribbon was falling apart from the ends, before I put the Fray Check on it.
