For every custom I post, it will always be on the FIRST page. I confused some people last year by bumping the thread up but not letting them know everything is on page one. My apologies!

It's getting harder to find the time to do customs with two kids now, but I have a decent amount of ideas written down and will try to tackle them as time permits. Thanks in advance for any feedback left, it means alot and helps me grow.


ROCK N ROLL
so how does one make a rock n roll custom that looks and feels right? I struggled with this one for awhile. I didn't want a massive towering ripped guy, I did that with Outback. To me, that fit him. I didn't want to make a "white Roadblock" heavy machine gunner. Rock N Roll should be big, but not that size. I settled somewhere in the middle. The torso and arms come together to give him a buff guy look, without the ripped part. The different legs cut down on the height factor. I think I came pretty close to what I wanted, I might tweak him sometime a bit more.

So here was a fun one. I first got the idea when I saw the pictures of the 50th viper, with a grey base to play off of. I was going to use bare forearms, and might still go back to them. The grey on the forearms currently doesn't match the sleeves, however it's a perfect match for the grey on the leg pockets, so it *kinda* flows, but I'm not sold on it yet.







SCRAP IRON
Scrap Iron was pretty easy to do. Red and Black paint, no head modifications needed, and a sticker. I switched the feet out to the 25th Scrap Iron feet just to make sure there would be zero paint chipping when posing. I loved this working on this one.













VAPOR
Vapor was one of those figures I just didn't know how to do. While shopping for items to use in the upcoming joint project with Oreobuilder and Dusty79 G.I. JOE RESURGENCE (shameless plug), I stumbled across this head from the TRU military and thought it was unique enough to tackle Vapor. The rest fell into place with fodder, and a waterslide decal from Dusty79.

Rampart probably could have gone into the CC8 Wippin It Challenge, because this guy has been on my table for two years. I finally finished him up in the last couple of weeks. I went through every head imaginable trying to get the figure to look just right, including trying two other casters versions of Rampart head's (one was rally nice and had a mic attached, the other was a dremeled out vintage one, that only fit the smaller heads from the 25th early figures). I also tried modding the PoC Dusty helmet right after I got him years back to no success. I finally just decided I was going to splurge and went on a rather expensive shopping spree for cast parts in mid February. This head rocks.


BLIZZARD
Blizzard was the first custom I had completed last year. Pretty decent reception, except for the huge helmet (vintage).
I never submitted him due to that helmet issue. I searched high and low, tried different helmet including a Naboo pilot one, but the X Wing fighter helmet won out in the bitter end. Not much different from the last go round except the new helmet and a Joe logo on the arm.






BEACH HEAD
2/19/14

Legs: PoC Beach Head

Beach Head here was just a happy accident, as i was popping different heads on DG Shipwreck figures to see what kind of characters I could come up with. The green turned out to be a perfect match! I added the PoC gear and legs to him to give him an updated look, and tried to keep the classic color scheme. I painted the pants brown, added some light grey camo on the pants, and a dash of red on the vest. Pretty easy one!

As part of the Wipping it Challenge for CC8, I tackled Recondo, who had been on and off my workbench for almost 6 months, in different forms of WIP stages and parts.
RECONDO
Here is the final product. Dirtied up the arms a bit, and added a backpack with green and black washes
I slightly touched up the eyes as well.











Duke: 2/2/14
I'm going to start the year with a mod I stumbled across while trying to make a fix with my Poc Duke from a couple of years back. The one thing that always bugged me about it was how I did the gloves. Visually, it made it look as though the top part of the gloves took up half the forearm, and that Duke's forearm was not long to begin with. Made all the difference to me, I like the look alot better now.
The new top of the glove is made from the little plastic caps that attach the top and bottom of modern era torso's. I very rarely have to reuse them after cracking open a torso so I have a small amount laying around to help mod more figures as well in the future.

I won't be posting anything new for 3-4 weeks, unless I get a really good idea. I have several figures I need to just get off my but and finish.
