Here's how I'm viewing the set. I'm sort of taking it figure by figure, individually. Are they making modern-style versions of some characters that I am interested in? Well, yes, they are. I've always liked Outback. Tj'Bang is one of my favorite Ninja Force characters, and I certainly don't object to getting one that's not hindered by some spring-action mechanism inside. Turning out a Steel Brigade Commander based on one of the later designs of the original Steel Brigade figures is a cool idea, and I'm impressed with the results. While the Eco-Warriors aren't my favorite special team, neither are they my least favorite, and I'm impressed with what I've seen with regard to Flint and Ozone. I look forward to Clean Sweep who, let's face it, I doubt was on very many other lists for getting translated into the modern line. I'm extremely impressed with the Toxo-Viper, and the new Lab Rats are cool. Collectively, the character selection is definitely a mixed bag. Individually -- I've got no complaints.

I actually really like it. It gives off an end of the world survivalist type of feel. I don't like it as Outback, but I like it as a figure.

Nope.
I had hopes for Outback and now they released summer fun Snowjob.

And yes, Ozone's head sculpt would have been better for Joe.

That's not Stuart Selkirk, it's Harlan Moore out of his snowsuit. Without the SURVIVAL written on his shirt, there'd be nothing "Outback" about that figure at all... I'd totally forgive it if was painted in the 1992 or 1993 Battle Corps color schemes but it's not so it's just massively disappointing on every level.

And the actual SJ head is one of the worst in all of Joedom since it's far too shallow front-to-back for a healthy human, imho. It's a terrible choice for Outback and it's a terrible piece, period.

It does have Survival written across his chest, Club confirmed.

I dig it. Sure the Snow Job head is kind of an odd choice, but I can always swap for something else if I want to, and the rest of that figure is aces.

I think nfc is saying that the SURVIVAL text is the only thing that ties that figure to Outback. I think most of the figure works as a more POC-ized Outback, but the head is a total fail and as I mentioned before, this isn't the Outback figure I wanted even if it is mostly a decent figure. Most of the figure may be based on John Warden's zombie hunter Outback sketch (hard to tell when that sketch has never been shown to the public), but I have serious doubts that Warden drew him with a POC Snow Job head.

Let me say this about the un-helmeted Ozone head -- I think it's perfect. The original Ozone head always struck me as one of the more exaggerated, especially with that teeth-baring snarl on his face. It reminded me of the old axiom "If you keep making that face, it's gonna stick like that." And in Ozone's case it did. This new headsculpt retains the look of the character as far as the face and hairstyle are concerned, but with a far less extreme expression. It's superb, really.

And I don't think it would've worked better for Joe Colton than the one they're using. Colton should have a classic look to him, in my opinion. As such, the AT head is the ideal choice.

I'd say my two favorite figures out of those shown to date are Ozone, especially since seeing the un-helmeted head, and the Toxo-Viper, with Flint and T'Jbang coming in close behind. But I haven't seen any that I really dislike so far.

Outback is underwhelming. Very underwhelming.

He's 'Dumb Outback'...

I like Outback just fine. I wouldn't have used the figure as-is anyway, but I don't mind the head, and the rest of the figure has a pretty cool look to it. I wish the green was a bit more muted, but maybe it will be in person.

This does bring up something I've always thought was interesting, though: did it seem weird to anyone else that Hama chose both Snow-Job and Outback to be in that Borovia storyline, despite the fact that, out of their uniforms, they looked really, really similar? Not that it doesn't work, story-wise or even visually, but it's kind of funny that, of the four Joes in the story, two of them are the resident red-haired dudes with big beards.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

And I agree, definitely seems more "Snow Job in jungle attire" than Outback.
