Post subject: Alley Viper Urban Assault HISS RC

So, Blood Brigade showed me his custom RC HISS when he finished it in December. I knew I needed an RC HISS. I had already made a Urban HISS 4x4 in the past with APC wheels but I wanted an RC. LOL So I picked up the same Jeep he used because I wanted to use the top to make a Gator but then I came across this smaller RC which I liked better for size for the HISS (doesnt get around as well but still fun to chase the cat with on the smooth floor). I will be using the larger RC to make an RC Snow Cat 4x4.

I was just going to do a simple slap and paint and call it good but then I remembered how much I hate the turret and canopy on the original HISS. So I took a little more time and updated both of those.

I love the raw steel on the top. Your orange/purple look a bit new next to it though. I also think some sort of fenders would be cool.

I agree with fenders, that vehicle has no armor on the under carriage, so it is a weak point and prime target.

Congrats, your the first person to say anything negative about the original Hiss. It's only the most iconic and recognized joe vehicle of all lol.

No, The glass canopy has been a point of contention among collectors for as long as I can remember. Everyone knows you don't put a glass canopy on a tank. Also I would say the Vamp is more Iconic.

Fenders would have been a good idea, but as I said I intended on this being a quick simple project and fenders would have been a much bigger project then I planned. Heck the turret and canopy were a much bigger project then I planned. As for the armor, if I was doing just a normal vehicle I would have probably done several things different but putting it on a RC chassis kinda limits the options a little.

The fenders would have been a great idea but would have made it a much larger project then I planned on having. It is actually orange and blue but I think there is a mix of lighting and a bit of bleed through causing that effect.

The raw steel just happened to happen and I did not plan on it. But now that I have discovered it I plan on making a dreadnok vehicle with that as its main color. What happened is I planned on having those areas just plain flat black, but I went out and spray painted the antenna chrome which got chrome spray paint on my fingers. I thought it was dry and I have no patience so I was handling the black pieces putting them on the vehicle but to my dismay there were silver highlights on the edges of the canopy that had rubbed off of my hands. So at that point I decided to go with it and went out and spraypainted my hands some more and applied it to all the black areas.

It's a toy though, and I say the Hiss is much more iconic than the vamp. IMO anyway. Everyone knows the Hiss.

Thanks.

When you hit the quote button it opens up a new message window with that quote in it. Go to the bottom of that page and all of the messages are there with quote button beside them. You just click on which ever ones you want to add to your message.

Thanks it actually practically built itself. I put a rod across the back and then the two side rods just lined up with the angle that the front gun already provided. Then on the back two corners put the vertical rods and the two slanted rods up front. Then once those were dry I put the rods around the top rather then on the top. This made the top slightly bigger then the bottom. Then put the side and back plates on and cut the front and glued them directly to the slanted rods on the front.

I use multi purpose plumbing cement. It works with most hard plastic vehicles and most Styrene and ABS plastic sheets and rods but there are some plastics it does not work on.

It works best if you can clamp it very tight while it cures. I use clamps, tape and some times even put screws in and then remove them after it dries to accomplish this. Plumbing cement is designed to melt two pieces of plastic and cause them to fuse together. This works best when they are forced to fuse by pressure.

The best super glue that I have found for connecting things that are metal to the plastic is Aleene's jewelry and metal glue.
