Straight-arm Flash. A family friend gave him to me for Christmas that year. I was waaaaaaaay into Star Wars figures at the time, so Flash just became a slightly more mobile companion for them. I accidentally snapped his arm off at the shoulder while trying to have a TIE Fighter Pilot take him prisoner several months later. I got Rock'N'Roll and Scarlett soon after that, and that got me more interested in Joes. When the swivel-arm figures hit the next year, I was in love.

Straight-arm Rock-n-Roll - I can still remember it. It was the Christmas gift exchange at school in second grade. I opened the present I got and it was this tiny little soldier with a big gun and a helmet. I thought he was kind of lame because he was so small compared to all my other figures, since I was heavily into He-Man and the other similarly sized toys. I'd seen GI Joe in the stores a couple of times, but it was always as I walked past to get to the He-Man figures. He-Man was so big and powerful, while the Joe figures were so small and wimpy looking. On the bus home, another kid was going on and on about how awesome GI Joe was and how lucky I was to get it, when all he got was a couple of Hot Wheels.

Mine was straight arm Rock n' Roll too. My brother and I found that first assortment at Ames. He picked out Stalker because he was a Green Beret. Blond hair and beard with bullets across his chest and giant heavy machine gun. Clearly I made the better choice.

1967 Blond Talking GI Joe, which My father purchased the month I was born. I loved that doll and took him everywhere. He had many adventures with the rest of my action figures until he was "stolen" or given away along with all of my other stuff when we moved from Pittsburgh to Vegas in 1981.

ARAH Straight Arm Grunt. My He was a stocking stuffer for Christmas. I thought he was ok but lacked the proper articulation. When they changed the articulation I went spend crazy.

Bulletman was my first Joe. My brother got him for me so I would stop taking his AT Joe's. Still have him, but he is missing his helmet and his fingers. I restrung and was able to " race" him at the first Disney JoeCon in the "Bulletman Races".

First RAH Joe was straight arm Zap. I can remember seeing the end cap at Bradleys in Poughkeepsie, NY. I wanted them all, but mom said only one. Went with Zap. A few days later got Snake Eyes and Scarlett and a Ram!

Thank you to all you "old fogeys" and your first Joe being of the 12" variety for making me feel young :D

This is almost exactly the order I acquired them in, but I got Flash before Stalker. And I had Breaker for a couple weeks just by himself. I remember begging my mom for him because he looked so much like my older brother's 12-inch bearded Joe and, without even reading his file card (or realizing it was there) I tore him open to battle my Star Wars guys.

I didn't even realize there were file cards until a particularly long shopping trip with my mom, when she'd made it clear I wasn't getting anything. While she shopped for clothes, I sat and looked at the toys. I pulled a Snake Eyes off the peg and turned him over. When I saw all the other little character pictures I was like "Who the heck are those guys?" Then I read the file card for Snake Eyes, then for Stalker...both were awesome.

The kicker is that I continued to think Breaker was the original Joe until a month or so later when I found another in the store and read his file card. Snow Eyes was instantly promoted to be my favorite character, but I still have a soft spot for Breaker.

Duke, Cobra Trooper, and Destro were my first three. Cannot remember what order I got them in, or if I got them all at the same time.

It was the trio of straight arm Flash, Breaker and Rock N Roll. But I still had my Star Wars priority at the time, and even Buck Rogers figures, etc... It wasn't until I got a swivel arm Steeler with the MOBAT that Joes took over.

Yeah when Joe came on the scene all of the other 3 3/4" line I collected took a back seat. The lucky ones were just put in a box and stored away, the unlucky ones became target pratice for my BB gun.

Same here. Most of my SW figures became bathtub toys since they didn't have any metal screws. Boba Fett made a heck of a cool scuba diver along the adventure people.

Short-Fuse and Breaker were figures I got from a garage sale.

Scarlett was my first from a store.

First Joe item I got was an accessory pack, so I could re-arm my Star Wars figures.
Bossk also looked really good with a helmet and visor combo and Stalker's gun. Add a Fisher Price scuba tank, and he was badass. At least I thought so.

My first Joe figures were for my birthday. I got the Stalker, Grunt, Short-Fuze, Rock n Roll, Zap, and Flash along with the Vamp w/ Clutch, and the HAL w/ Grand Slam.
