These look great and that unmasked Batman/Bruce head would make a great Agent Ward from MAOS. And, ahem I hope you have an entry for NJC#81

Thanks man.

Staring me right in the face from my work bench, even as I type...

Those bat figures are great.
And I love, love, freakin' LOVE that BatCave set up!

Thanks GD! The Batcave isn't a complete set yet, but will be modular. That's what lets me take some pics which make it appear done.

okay, so after recently getting my main Robin figure (Tim Drake in my verse, as Dick is Nightwing, Jason is unaccounted for as yet, Steph is a Batgirl in training and Damien is for later in the story) submitted for the gallery, I found a Robin for fodder and immediately went to work on an update.

I enjoy doing this, though it invariably means my son's figure will soon have to be upgraded in kind. lol.

Here is where I am - still has the core parts of my previous version, but no longer is the all red thing too overwhelming. I'm not a big fan of underwear on the outside of the suit, but I'm debating that, and/or just making the pants all black. Yet, I don't want to mimic the new Multiverse figure too directly.

Thoughts before I wrap up the revision?

I like it as is. But if you wanted the blend the black and the red from the knee area maybe color black diagonally up the thigh area black. Also maybe add that green in somewhere. Like the boots? I don't know I like it like it is I'm just throwing a couple things out there.

I don't think he needs the full underwear outside the suit, but he needs something.

Unless that suit has some protection built inside, he looks a little vulnerable in the goods area.

Maybe something like this?

It's rough because I'm using a laptop mouse and a finger to paint, so it isn't precise.

Not so much a codpiece, but a tougher but thinner material centered over the crotch area for protection.

both good points. The figure I bashed onto this had that same green on the boots, so you're definitely look at it with the right eye. I'll mix up some paint and match it all up.

As for the legs and waist, I think I might just give him black pants after all. Especially if I do add green to the boots to break it up.

The source figure has an untucked tunic that the belt holds in place. I don't think I want that part (red tails below the belt line), but I may need to still consider some different options.

I almost wonder about giving him a non-traditional belt, like the Prince of Persia belt with the red sash?

I get what you are saying, and I think in a real suit, you could pull off that look, and have it not be sloppy. But in this scale, I just don't think the painted on lines would have the effect you're proposing. I think if I went this route, I would paint the entire crotch (why do I feel like you're baiting me for a sig-worthy quote here? lol). But as I said above, leaning towards black pants.

If you did something like a quilted codpiece, like Darth Vaders's codpiece, but with the quilted look that his pants have, it would give him some texture. Not bulky but a sorta 3-D look.

He's got black boots and gauntlets. Use your eye to draw a diagonal line from right boot to left gauntlet and from left boot to right gauntlet. That middle space needs something. Just from one side of the belt buckle to the other. Not full, basically just in line with the stomach muscle six-pack....

I wouldn't go with the black pants, Robin is lighter colors.

I think the red looks fine. It might look more realistic if he had a "fly" sculpted on the front like the Batman you have him pictured with, might help them look more like pants than tights. Or bring the zipper/seam from the chest down all the way to the waist, might help it look like a jumpsuit.

But as is I think it works.

thanks for the feedback fellas. In the end, I decided that rather than play with Robin's fly (you're welcome DJ), I would add the tunic look I had previously rejected.

You can also see I've messed with the boots a bit, but I'm not happy with them. not thrilled with the shade of green for one, but also the sculpt - which is great if keeping it black - isn't really a great one to paint this way. So I need to swap them out for some boots with armor or at least visible padding/panels to paint, so that the metallic green is for armor on arms and legs. right now, I'm not even sure what I'd call the part that I painted green, other than sloppy

Not sure if it was your intent, but visually you've more or less transformed OYL Tim into Damian with the change to black leggings and arms and addition of hood and tunic bottom. Especially once you green up the boots, all he's really missing is the yellow in the cape.

Since you said you were dissatisfied with shade of green, I'd suggest a metallic more in line with the shade of green used on the mask to make the design more cohesive.

No, not intending Damien, but also, I really just go with whatever looks help make a decent looking figure, without caring as much about who wore what in a certain comic.

That said, if I took visual inspiration, it was from this figure, which I don't believe is meant to be Damien?

^ But yes, darker green on those parts for sure. And different boots.

I also did consider adding a yellow lining inside the black cape, but I think I like it better without.

I think the Arkham Robin is ostensibly Tim, but he really takes all his design cues from Damian, armored up to match the Arkham aesthetic.
