i'm not sure if anyone has customized a die cast collectable car into the interceptor from mad max, but i'm going to try. i need it for my madmax custom, and b$130+ isn't happening. i know i won't get 100% accuracy with my base being a 69 cuda,
http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/a ... iewpix.htm

but i hope to get close. i chose this base for #1 price , and over all size/shape, and window shape.

this thing is heavy! wish me luck. i'll update this thred with progress. please don't move to critique, i'll post pics in my thred there when it is close to done :)

if you ever decide to chop the nose off one of these chinese die cast cars, save yourself some heart ache and don't!

i got the stance and the motor , the nose will have to be sorted!

here is a mock up of my plan and my first pic of the nose. i've been struggling with a cold and finding it hard to make any progress, i am happy with the direction it is taking.

For those fuel tanks in the back, it's hard to tell how much room you have there, but you may try some copper pipe and end caps to make the tanks. I know it comes in multiple diameters, you would not need much and it would look legit when painted black if it fits. They will think you are making pipe bombs at home depot, you may get a few looks.

thanks for the tip. if the tubes i'm using don't work i might try it. i actually trimmed the rubber/pkastic? tubes to fit over the trunk deck and plan to build up around them. reason being it is nearly impossible to cut this diecast metal! i had to use a hacksaw on the nose, and just the small reshaping of the side window too years off my dremels life!!

If you have a Dremel, the cutting discs are probably the best thing to cut die-cast with.

This is looking really great, but you could have saved yourself the headaches and bought an AutoArt Diecast MadMax Interceptor!
