It looks like it is coming along nicely. I have never tried customizing diecast because it seems like too much hassle. I personally look for RC cars in the right size and body style. I just picked up a sweet RC Corvette that I am going to use for a MASK Raven. You can find almost every body style made into an RC car.

I've been using a lot of those Tootsie Toy/Gay Toys/Amloid cars from the 70s and 80s. They are relatively cheap and easy to work with(paint scrapes easily though even when I tried primer for plastics)
I won this beauty -http://www.ebay.com/itm/381061253417?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
and can't wait to customize it.

There's a pretty fair amount of different types of vehicles done over the years. Some really odd cars too--like a Pacer?

i think i'm ready for paint. i have a few parts that are not correct, like the hood scoops, but i'm hoping that flat black and lots of red dirt work in my favor! i used two vintage joe pieces in the conversion, the front end is from a large joe vehicle, hacoc maybe?, and the intake is actually the motor off the snowmobile :)

i had a few design elements i wanted to make sure got included like fairings and fenders. over all i'm still liking where it is headed and will be posting in my critique thred as soon as i start painting.

Yeah there are a lot of cool vehicles made out of this soft plastic. My objection to using them for my preference is because the soft plastic does not chemical melt well. That is why the paint does not stick well and it also makes them hard to glue. My personal preference is to stick to hard plastics. I do have one vehicle that I did make out of a soft plastic vehicle but every piece had to be attached with screws.
