It occurred to me this morning that 2015 is the 30th Anniversary of the USS FLAGG AIRCRAFT CARRIER.

I realize it didn't come out until pretty late in 1985, but -- what the heck, right?

HAPPY 30th, U.S.S. FLAGG! Still the biggest toy on the block! :D

I'm still biding my time to get one. The price is sure to drop as you old bastids start dropping too. Any day now... any day now...

That's cool that this is the 30th Anniversary year.....my childhood Flagg is gonna be raised back to glory from my parents attic this year. I finally have space to do it.

Just imagine if your classic Flagg had all the strength and ruggedness of when the plastic was new, and not aged 30 years! It was an awesome toy then and still is today, but the ravages of time wear on most plastic. She was a beauty in her day though...I miss mine every now and then...

I am actually worried about brittle plastic and I know I will need to paint it and buy new stickers. It will definitely be off limits to kids when done.

Mine seems to have held up rather well, although some parts of the tower have become a little discolored with time. But I'll also admit, it's not like it's been moved from its spot in the living room for a very long time.

The attic makes me nervous. Plastic loves climate control heat and humidity is very rough on it.

The plastics used for the Flagg were very good. The gray parts are especially tough (the hull, not the deck...) THe deck is near impossible to snap, but can be scratched. As long as the white/light gray parts (the tower) aren't exposed to too much sun, they shouldn't be too "brittle", but many of them are thin, and would snap no matter the conditions. The Terror Drome was made a little better with thicker parts especially around the door frames, but the Flagg seems to be weak through design at those points.

I've had two different Flaggs, and one had the sun problem, the other just cracked due to normal play stress around the doors.
