I think that you are brilliant for trying, but the figure just isn't quite there. The Flint suspenders and belt look a little wrong, but it's really the face that's throwing me. It just doesn't look like him at all.

I have a suggestion though I'm not sure that it's economicly fiable. There are in scale PVC figures that you might be able to drill and use. I'll think on a possible head for a replacement, but nothing is coming to mind at the moment.

For your Jayne, I highly recommend VvsV Shipwreck (the one with the green hat). It's a dead ringer.

Still Firefly is so worthy of attention that I am glad that you are making the attempt.

I think you captured his look really well. I recognized the character right away.

I think Barrage is dead-bang perfect for Jayne. BR's good enough for Mal for what there is to work with (there were PVCs?). Now I wanna see Inara and a full Serenity custom. Hop to it!

Were as I totally think you hit the mark I don't like his gun. Why not use the pistol from Gung ho and cut the scope off.

raps, I appreciate the honest critique and definitely see where you're coming from. These aren't as close to screen accurate as I'd like and I did consider the PVCs but they only did 3 of the crew and I'm planning on doing them all. I didn't want to mix in accurate sculpts with "close enough" using other parts (and I doubt they'll do the rest of the crew so there's no point holding off) And the BR head does have a bit of Nathan in the face but I had to paint match the skin tone and it took some away from the facial expression. I do agree about the webgear though and at first I thought if fit the style quite well. But now I'm thinking maybe the Cobra Trooper harness might work better. I do see your points and they are things I did think about when putting these together.

As for the pistol, its mostly a placeholder until I get the new 25th CG. The pistol it comes with will be perfect for Mal's sidearm.

And the rest of the crew is coming. Just putting the parts together to get the right look is taking longer than I thought. Got most of them parted out though but the ladies are really vexing me. Good girl parts are hard to find ya know?

Jayne is so close it's actually funny that I've never noticed it before. Mal just needs more expression in his face, otherwise great parts selection and pretty good execution.

Well, I agree with the above comment that the Mal head isn't quite as close, but the other choices for parts rock. And Jayne is a dead-ringer IMHO.

Also agree with the notion (as a Firefly fan) that it's cool just to see the effort. And the quality is top notch.

I wonder if any Han Solo heads could be modded to get the right look? At least the hair would be closer.

As a huge fan, I really like these customs.
Mal's head is not quite there, but the custom itself is so good that it doesnt matter much.
I dig them both! Keep up the good work, and I'm looking foreward to more of these!
