How does the front axle work if there is a bike coming out of it?

Still, it is definitely impressive and the HISS tank 'head' is full of win...

No axle. Each wheel is independently powered hydraulically.

I like that idea. I got all my Kickstarter stuff, I'll look through it and see what fits.

The Joes have successfully liberated Gold Springs, but Cobra Commander and Destro have retreated to their secret base and have already put in motion their ultimate plan. Stay tuned for the next chapter of GI Joe: Resurgence coming in 2016!

You can really feel the love for the brand behind each items.
With your obvious passion, you guys created a fantastic line up of toys with a fun storyline.
This is what is missing at Hasbro.

Thanks for sharing and letting us dream with you.

The catalogs were a lot of fun to work on. I haven't gotten much time at the work bench lately, doing the stay at home dad routine, so it was nice to have something I could work on for a little bit each day as pictures came in and the write-ups were posted.

Picking up on the idea of Resurgence living somewhere in between the old 'Joe line and the new, I tried to combine some classic ideas and designs with some new concepts.

The main insert catalog is based heavily off the '87&'88 catalogs, which must have been my most active years in Joe-dom as a kid because I have quite a few copies of each of those lying around. For a long time it just looked like a jumbled mess on the Illustrator artboard, but around the middle of the month I could see it starting to come together and it was pretty pleasing to see all these great new figures and vehicles laid out in a somewhat familiar format. Big thanks to Sam for getting me some of the resources from his packaging work so I could keep some consistency between the cardbacks, boxes, and the catalog.

Since the MSRPs were dropped this year, I wasn't entirely sure how to handle the mail-away catalog. With the tech-heavy story line, I came up with the idea of a digital battle plan or map, kind of like the old Live The Adventure Cobra Island map catalogs. As I fleshed out that I idea, I started thinking instead of an order form you'd fill out and mail in, it would direct you to a mobile application (which would look something like the design on the actual catalog interior) to redeem Flagg points. In trying to come up with a name, and again trying to mix the old and new, I came up with the idea that maybe the PITT wasn't just a physical location anymore, but was the information and coordination hub used by the Joe team. I had a lot of fun with the design of the tablet, combining snippets of old BBS code (writen from memory by wife, with a few theatrical flourishes) hex code taken from one of the images of the figures, and a secret binary message. Obviously the clunky DOS style text and scan lines are totally out of place on a modern tablet, but again, Resurgence seems to be about mixing the old and new.

Thanks to the PHX gang for the chance to work with them on these!

Oh my god.

I was involved in making this and looking at that catalog insert I'm having a hard time believing that it isn't real.

The fold lines in the catalog really sell it. This is exactly how it would look.

Just amazing work Dan. I'm glad I didn't get to see this until now, because I wouldn't have been able not to talk about it. :-)

The catalogs are awesome. They do feel real. It really pulls it together and gives a great view of the project as a whole. Thanks DotD.

Now all we need is that catalog printed out and folded up...

Or done as a mini-poster...

Its hard to take in the full scope of this in individual posts. Seeing everything gathered together in those catalogs really sells the project. You can see how it all comes together into a cohesive group and it all looks amazing!

Anyone else notice the page folds in the catalog images? Like it was an actual catalog that was opened and scanned. Brilliant.

i have been watching this project unfold day by day. just like resurgence 1, i am blown away by the size and depth of this project. the attention to detail in the customs and the artwork are amazing. being fairly new to the modern joe stuff, everything looks very fresh to me, and like it just launched as new production. mission accomplished guys!

my favorite build and pics are the anaconda, truly amazing piece that i would of loved as a kid :)

We spent more time developing the storyline to accompany our customs. This was told using the various texts and blurbs and of course the filecards that were lovingly crafted by Raptor and GITrekker. Without them, our figures would not have become fully realized characters. They breathed the spark of life into our customs and this is just as important as choosing parts or colors for a custom. Thanks guys, this project is not possible without you.

And I was truly pleased to be a part of this project, crafting all of the classic-style file cards, and getting to create the personalities and specialties for many of the amazing characters in Resurgence 2.

Seeing a lot of them for the first time, even after I wrote the file cards, was as much a treat for me as it was for anyone else following this thread. And the items presented have all been incredible, and brought together in an amazing unified concept.

And it was great seeing another catalog, too, to wrap up the month. And nice work, DanOfTheDead, incorporating the design that I came up with for the SWARM file cards into the main catalog! That looks fantastic!

This is the sort of immense project that makes me wish for one of those alternate-universe-shifting devices like from the TV show "Sliders", so I could find one there these items were actually accepted and produced by Hasbro, and available in the stores. In that universe, undoubtedly, G.I. Joe would have retained its dominance in the toy aisles.

Of course, that alternate-universe-shifting device would have to have one heck of a cargo capability... :)

So thanks, guys, for another amazing Resurgence, and thanks for letting me be part of it. Already looking forward to next year! :-D

(And in the meantime, if anyone else wants some nice classic file cards for their customs, just let me know. My commissions are reasonable, and I'd like to stay in practice.)

Working on a follow up project, trying to get credits in order. Who wrote the Steel Brigade filecards? I didn't see a credit in that day's post. Was that Trekker?

I think I did a couple of them. At the moment I don't recall. I did the design work for ALL the classic-style file cards, so it tends to blur after a while when you do that many.

There's generally one sure way to tell one of my file cards. The second "Quote" paragraph (from the Files of General Hawk, etc) tends to be a good bit longer than cards written by others.

What can I say, I'm a writer... :-D ;-)
