A while back I did some Simpsons/GI Joe crossover figures using the heads from the LEGO Simpsons series 1 minifigures. They were so much fun to do, I couldn't help but do another group using series 2 when they came out. This round was much tougher as I used characters that required a lot of yellow paint. Not sure I'll be using yellow paint anytime soon as this was a little mind numbing, but in the end it was worth it. I will post pics of the first series at the end of this post, so if you want a reminder of what came before, just scroll down.

Here they are:

Smithers

He became a Crimson Guard so he could be close to Mr. Burns, or rather......Commander Burns.

Dr. Hibbert

Edna Krabappel

Martin Prince

Homer

Homer got 2 versions, Joe Colton and Destro.

Hans Moleman

Bart

Bart also got 2 versions, this was the Bartman head. His other head was used for Snake Eyes. Hat tip to 2DARK2C of the Joecustoms.com boards for this, he actually did one of these a while ago with a different Bart head.

And here is the first series again:

Great job with the yellow. The first set was outstanding and this is an awesome follow up. Selma and Patty are down right nuts! Combined with Baroness Marge and what a combo. Those are my favorite, but grounds keeper willie is really cool. Very hard to pick a favorite here. Love it all!

Thanks husker.

For some reason the pics are not working on tapatalk for me on my iPhone. They are fine through the website though. No idea why.

These cause a dilemma for me. On the one hand, I really really prefer making figures like what I would have wanted as a kid - straight on action figures, mostly realistically done. On that same hand, my interest in Simpsons lore only goes so far.

But on the other hand, these are mini works of art. And while I would not buy the Simpsons figures you used as source material (just like I wouldn't buy Funko Pops and such), there's something to be said about the effort that went into a) making these look like a production cross-over toy, and b) somehow finding the essence of both the Simpson character and the Joe character in the same figure.

I think that last part is truly where the artistry is on display here. Awesome work.

fantastic work all around. I really like Selma and Patty, but I think Groundskeeper Willie is my favorite!

Yeah, these are even more fun than the first round. And Homer Colton looks WAY too much like Bruce Willis...

Awesome job on the color matching - Doc Hibbert is my fave of the bunch, but holy crap these are all fantastic.

What a fantastic project!
Dr. Hilbert and Groundskeeper Willie make me laugh, they're probably the funniest customs from this year.

Haha, I can see that too now. John McClane Simpson would be so LOL!

inspired stuff. Love how each character was thought out for a specific reason.
