SO glad I'm going a different direction with my movie-version Vizh, because I would hate to try and match mine against yours - awesome as always, Spinny :D

And yeah, it blends the movie and comic looks really well.

Don't remember seeing that Ultron before - Cyberman with IM lower legs?

Some great figures in this thread, bro! That Vision looks great, as does the Magneto! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments, all.

The latest of my movie inspired custom Avengers is coincidentally appropriate for Veteran's Day.

When my son asked why none of my Captain Americas looked like the movie versions, I realized that I didn't like the looks of any factory Cap in my preferred scale and set about making one that combined my favorite elements of his screen and comic appearances:

Not exactly as his outfit looked in Age of Ultron, but I took from that what I liked and brought back the mail shirt (because it's so iconic). I left the sleeves white all the way to the cuff, but I may reconsider that at some point.

Importantly, he has an alternate head:

And as much as I like this new movie-inspired look, I wanted the option to make him look more traditional without needing to create a whole separate figure. So he's got changes of gloves and boots to go all comic booky when desired:

And because I was looking to the movies for inspiration, I decided two looks wouldn't be enough (see below).

Since I was already dirty on the Cap project and really liked some of his other outfits in the movie-verse, I decided to try and improve his WW2 look (inspired more by his Contest of Champions avatar):

And I just had to do the LBC Winter Soldier night mission version:

So what do you guys think?

i don't know what all the factory versions look like, but i do have 1 cap in my fodder. i must say your versions are very good looking. i really like how modular you made him, with the boot swap!

and your ww2 version makes me, a non comic fan, want to make one!

Love these, especially the movie-inspired and WWII versions. I think that the white sleeves to the cuff look fine, particularly with the pouches on the forearms. One mild critique I have concerns the stars on the shoulder; when I see the red star on a field of white, it puts me more in the mind of Canada than the US. However, I understand that you probably wanted to break up all of the white sigils, with the chest star and the forehead "A", and it definitely doesn't look bad. The only other comment I have is about the head. It looks like the one that came on the initial First Avenger figure, right? I never really cared for that one, as I feel Hasbro made it over-sized and it's not a particularly good representation of Chris Evans. You've improved it tenfold by adding the chin strap. There are two alternatives that may work better: the first is the Fighting Avenger Cap from the Avengers movie line, and the other is the 5 POA Cap from the Age of Ultron line. Just my opinion. I think you've done a great job on these.

These are fantastic. I really dig these. I love how clean they are and the modular ability is very cool.

I'm a fan of Cap, so these are all wins to me! Nice work on the lot of them!

Thanks for the thoughts on Cap, gents.

Continuing the trend of this thread lately, I finally got around to realizing my years-long dream of having an appropriately sized Hulk with a Ruffalo-esque head.

For a while I'd been circling the Ed Norton-era movie Hulk figure for it's size, but it always felt just a skooch too big and I hated the head. After finding a cheap 5 PoA Avengers Hulk with what I thought was an oversized melon, I scoured eBay and found a junker Norton-era hulk figure for under $10. I then shortened his legs a bit and replaced his head before applying some new paint.

The finished product is shown below, playing his favorite game with my default Thor (a head-swap LBC):

And here he is going toe-to-toe with my Hulkbuster, which is an Iron Mech repaint:

Finally, a shot of Hulkalo with the midnight Chinese Hulkbuster so many folks are using and an unaltered Norton-era Abomination, just to further illustrate scale:

What do you guys think?

Yup, that works better than the MU one hands down.

Glad you dig him.

Here's another figure I've wanted to do but found the scale challenging.

Movie Ultron starts out roughly human sized. but as he upgrades himself throughout, he keeps getting bigger. Ultimately the prime unit is almost Hulk height. And that's what I was going for with this:
Attachment:
Ultron.jpg
Ultron.jpg [ 110.24 KiB | Viewed 869 times ]

I had to start with a Terminator 6" base figure and trim down the legs a bit to get him in the right scale. Then I had to sculpt over that skull face with green stuff to make his countenance more like the movie version of Ultron. Here's a shot of him with my previous movie Ultron (who really looks more like one of the drones) to show the difference in size:
Attachment:
Ultron2.jpg
Ultron2.jpg [ 119.7 KiB | Viewed 869 times ]

And here's a shot of him squaring off with my movie versions of Cap, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man:

What do you guys think?

Hulk looks great. Seriously considering following that recipe now.
