I think as with anyone producing a toy line of their own, they want it to be based on "their" ideas, or at least ones they've legally obtained the rights to, no matter how good "our" ideas might be. Pretty sure Boss Fight touched on this at the outset of their campaign as well. The last thing anyone needs is a c&d letter claiming they stole someone's idea. lol

Yeah, I really don't think 'make two of your figures have the same skintone' is legally actionable, man.

They already covered themselves from that because a while back when they were deceiding on how Capt Evil was going to look they had 6 different versions. The red suit must have won but there was one that was similar to what AV was suggesting.

Here is that mock-up

They should loose the color on the trunks and leave them the same grey as the rest of the bodysuit for a more streamlined look.

Having grown up with the whole Captain Action doll and accessories, I would have considered it if it was an offering of the full line of Captain Action, Action Boy, the panther, and Captain Evil. Action Boy would need his boomerang, and the others their full kit.

Oh, that henchman is EXTREMELY cool!

And I don't have a problem with the blue trunks.

Have you considered offering the color variant Captain Action figures as Add-ons for those who might want more than one?

Hi Shaun,
At this time we're planning to cancel funding and relaunch. What you've suggested will be added to the new pledge reward options.

Hopefully the relisting will be better-structured, taking the average 18th fan's collecting habits in mind.

The problem was never the product and entirely the way it was being offered, imho. The funding was on track to maybe succeed, barely; and I'm sure their desire was for something that wildly succeeded several times over like the HACKS and Marauders did. Seeing how they're all ultimately BFS figures one has to assume this campaign's weak progress was in the presentation and structuring.

I'm hoping the re-do isn't too heavy with just repaints of what we've seen, tho. Nobody really needs three version of CA, and giving us three versions of the other guys isn't going to be a big help. I'd like to see some mission-specific accessory sets like scuba gear and a jetpack as stretch goals. The Henchmen would work best for the repaint-fest, with Nightforce Ninja and HYDRA goon colorings being popular.

Yep, it's done.

To be quite honest, this inspires even less confidence in them for the next round, unless they *really* up their product.

That's one issue, indeed. It does nothing to appeal to AP fans that don't see AP characters or themes and doesn't help to sell the CA characters to anybody. It only serves to turn a percentage of possible contributors off because he's license-squatting, really.

I really do see the thing he's trying to work towards, but his company's products so far haven't given him any true insight into the 18th fans that this line needs to appeal to. Nearly nobody cares about getting an 18th Captain Action figure that carries over none of the original's play value, and most contributors are just looking for a cool figure that will play well with the rest of their collection. Getting three versions of Captain Nobody-anybody-cares-about simply isn't a selling point.

The revised Kickstarter is finished so the next step will be to get approval from Kickstarter, which will hopefully be soon. Assuming that happens, the Kickstarter should be live within the next few days.

You know what else is happening in the next few days? HACKS arrive in USA. I ask you: What's more exciting?
