Got an idea for a small diorama project for the 2 week challenge. Something I've been kicking around in my head on and off and it seems like it's a good time to give it a shot.

However, I need a list of all the KIA/MIA Joes, preferably in order of their death. Definitely through the Marvel run, maybe for the comics since as well. Read somewhere Snake Eyes finally bought it?

Let me know if there's a list out there I can pull from!

Okay. This is a good start. Building a little spread sheet with everyone's info so I can keep track of the order of death, approximately.

I'm unable to find a first name of Shooter, or full names for Mangler and Cool Breeze. I'm assuming they were just never given. I had wanted to use filenames for this little project, but now I'm torn. Should I just use codenames? (If so, was General Flagg an official member of GI Joe? I guess he would be just listed as FLAGG) or use mainly file names with "CLASSIFIED" for any we don't know the official entry for... or leave them off the list of KIA entirely?

Hrmmm, hard to decide.

The lists of KIA in the comics used the codenames. Flagg was an official member, but didn't have a codename, he could be listed as General Flagg, or just use his filename, James Flagg Jr.

You could always go the Snake Eyes route and just say Classified for any names we don't know.

Yeah, I think I'll do a mock up of filenames with classified for the unknown names, and one just using codenames.

Wasnt Shooter originally named after Jim Shooter, who was an editor at the time?

I know the characters been retconned into a female, but iirc that was his origin

You guys will laugh but I've been struggling with sorting my spreadsheet by year and month to get an approximate chronological order of deaths. Had to ask the wife. So easy, I feel dumb.

So just to show I'm working on it, here's the spread sheet and the very first next step, plugging the list of names in order, into Illustrator.

Pffft, that's nothing. I've heard tales of the joemichaels70 and drbindy works in progress lists.

Oh my, 1991 was a tough year. Glad I had moved on to baseball and didn't know all that happened.
