So almost done with this figure. Nothing special. An IG sprayed black then detail paint added. Just waiting on the weapon to dry then calling it done and added to my IG army.

Calling this one done.

I like doing these quick customs because it makes me feel like I accomplished something. That and it increases my armies. Image

Looks great!

I can't believe you guys with your spray paint! OB and now this. What brand are you using? I'd written off spray paint as a lost cause on figures, but this looks great!

Thanks!

For primer I use Games Workshop black, which also means figures with a black base like this one are super easy. Stuff dries super fast, about 10 mins and even faster in hot sun.

For colors I use Tamiya brand. Takes longer to dry but looks great.

Today's progress on the dio.

Got a base coat of paint on. Cut the back doors out.

I still need to cut and fit the foamcore. I'll use that for the doors, back wall, and side walls. I plan on using some sort of paper tape or something similar to cover the foamcore.

I also need to cut the "granny grate" to fit, glue it down, then hit the whole thing with another light coat of paint.

Getting some pieces cut. So far the doors and the risers for the back wall to attach to are ready.

Still trying to figure out if I want to add a viewing window. It would mean a lot of extra work but the overall look would be really cool I think. Image

Looking great so far. Love the IG. What brand and color is the purple? It really pops.

Got a little more done. Decided to do the observation window. It's adding difficulty but in the end I think it makes the most sense. I'm going to use blister plastic for glass.

I added the doors and put in the back wall.

Now I need to cut and add the side walls, put in the floor, all the little grebbles and tech what nots. Followed by paint.

This might actually get finished in 2 weeks. Image

Regarding the photography more than the custom (which is incredible), but the white background you used for the alpine really helps draw the attention to the figure and the detail. Makes it pop really well.

You really, really need to get some spray paint. Even if it just Krylon or Rustoleum, they are so much help. I've been using them for years. Look for the flats and ultraflats though; anything else may not work as well. Satins and Mattes are okay, but avoid Gloss paints like the plague.

Nice work, btw, SGCaper. You are cranking this stuff out!

Thanks all.

And I totally agree with chad_ghost. The second I went to using a spray primer I never looked back. The Games Workshop stuff in my experience is the best, it goes on in 1 coat, dries super fast, takes paint incredibly well, and allows me to prep figures in batches. I usually piece together 3 or more figures then give them all a base coat of primer.
