That is a tough sell. I'll follow along because the characters look good, the sculpts look fantastic, and I'm eager to find out more details. But that is a big hurdle to overcome right out of the gate and not knowing any of the other people involved yet.

nwp - others have hit on the thing that was/is my main concern, and that is alyosha. Kickstarters are a confidence game. Invest your money now, and hope that you get what you paid for. The well established integrity and skillset, and production experience of the Boss Fight team made theirs a no-brainer. Ditto Marauder. Until we learn more about this team, then the limited amount I know so far has them at a credibility deficit, in comparison. And that's not what you want when entering into the KS model.

That said, I haven't ruled them out. Just acknowledging what it sounds like even they acknowledge.

So I guess in some ways, both of your points. The one thing I know as bad, and the rest of a supposed team I know nothing about.

End of the day, however, it still comes down to the quality of the item compared to the cost, for me personally. Even on items I'm interested in, from companies I trust, I still only back them if it ends up a good deal.

Per Alyosha:
Quote:
As promised, now that I have had some sleep, here is a list of items that we are talking about for series 2 of the line provided the KS does well enough to get us through series 1 and have some capital left over:
Soiled Dove
Prairie Wife
School Marm/Shopkeeper's Widow
Calvary Officer
Calvary Trooper
Calvary Soldier (Buffalo Soldier)
Gambler
Shootist
Blacksmith
Fireman
Native Tribal Scout
Native Tribal Brave
Native Tribal Chief
Articulated Horse X4 different colorations
Cannon w/ Trooper (Smalljoes.com exclusive)
Gatling Gun w/ Soldier (website exclusive)

All of these things are subject to change, but as you can see we have a pretty nice selection between just wv 1 and wv 2 of archetypes to fill out your town. If we get to wv 3, then we will have a "fat body" sculpted for the male figure to do some more and different towns people.

Regarding the KS, when it goes live, there will be a poll for you guys to help pick names for the "Create Your Own Cowboy" and "Create Your Own Outlaw" as well as pick the color pattern for the Cowboy himself. More news on that as we approach the date.

Blanks. Single Colored shirts with hands, single color pants with boots. What other reason would we have for adding gear (weapons, belts) and accs (coats, hats) in special colors not available on any figure to the KS at every other level? Oh, wait...did I just reveal something IMPORTANT?

This one brings back those fond memories of playing with my cousins Johnny west figures and the small plastic figures from when I was a kid

John said this line focuses on 1865-1890 for the first four waves of 12 figures each, then will move to the late 1700s-early 1800s American Revolution and Napoleonic Wars era. He said that if it rode a horse into battle he wants to do figures of it.

This is always my hesitation....
It's too much. Do I actively want 12 cowboys? Probably more like 6.
A wave of 12 figures......its just exhausting.

I think it's also a bit too much, but not for the reason you say. I want as many as can be made/reasonably afforded/obtained. If I'm going to have figures in any given genre, I have a strong interest in world building around them. But to me, talking about waves 6 and 7 of something not yet live for wave 1 seems too ambitious. I'm intrigued by all of it, of course. But I'm not going to decide to invest in a KS on the basis of a list that may never see the light of day because it's not directly connected.

To be fair, I have most of that same stuff on my personal custom to do list, with even less chance of them all seeing the light of day, so I won't throw too many stones. lol

AV - josh.kestner commented about the Johnny West stuff, and think I did also. Something small that you may want to suggest to the guys is to start getting some of the buzz about these to that community. I used to customize JW figs, and was a member of several boards. It's mostly an older group, as you'd expect, but pretty passionate about cowboy toys in general. When I made my custom Joe-scale Johnny and Sam Cobra, I posted them to one of those old groups and got about a dozen offers for them without asking for any. Considering that vintage JW figs usually cost a good chunk, there's some money there that could help the cause.

You do know there are lesser options than an All-In, right? This really sounds like the most BS excuse for anything ever, man. 'Oh, no; they're offering me more than I want! Those rotten bastards!'

Myself, I'm just not that big on Westerns and will only get enough of this line to round out my overall Time Travellers playverse. I'm thinking 3 or 4 from these first 12, then a trio each of the Natives and Union troopers. I'll see what the horses look like and will likely want a few, but I've no interest in the stagecoach or any other such vehicles.

1st four waves of 12 figures each? That's 48 figures in the first series?

or is this a different interpretation of 'waves' vs 'series' ?

Yeah, that's my understanding; 48 figures for the Western Theme. I haven't seen a mention of how quickly each wave of 12 will come, though.

That number probably includes the blanks, though- 48 "figures", but not necessarily 48 "characters". Still sounds like a lot, though.

I dunno about that. They've shown 12 fully-colored characters for Wave1 and list 13 up above for Wave2.
