I'm loving Magik, but I'm not seeing any difference to her leg length. To get those legs to proper human proportions the entire section of the calf from the swivel to the second knee hinge has to be thrown out. I reshaped the remaining calf to fit the pin on my Harlequin, and her legs fold and look properly human now. Feet shouldn't be behind one's ass when squatting, Hasbro!

Fun, fun figure. Has a look like she's inspired by Final Fantasy, which is not a bad thing.

Thanks guys. I guess the new Magik design does have a Final Fantasy vibe. Must be the new generation of comic book artists showing their inspirations.

I know I've shown off a couple of movie-inspired Ultron customs here already, but much like the character itself, I can't seem to stop tinkering with the design.

I wasn't unhappy with my evolved Ultron until my son finally saw The Terminator and realized where I'd gotten the base body for it. He basically accused me of being lazy. And since I was still not entirely sold on his height relative to my other movie-inspired figures, I decided to give it another go (at right, next to my original movie Ultron, below):

Here's a shot to show how he fits in height-wise with the some of my other cinematic Avengers customs:

And while I'm obsessing over character height, thought I'd share a WIP at what has become my new Great White Whale of customizing. I don't usually show WIPs, but I got several inquiries about how my Blob came together and decided to document my progress on Groot:

What do you guys think?

So what's going on there with Groot? Are those BAF parts chopped down to regular legends height? Or some other source of the parts?

Thanks, guys.

The Groot parts are off a midnight Chinese, light-up-chest, limited-articulation figure that I grabbed off of eBay for about 6 bucks. It was about half an inch shorter than the actual BAF Groot, but still not worth displaying as-was.

I had an old Legends Namor that I've cannibalized for various parts in the past, and decided to use his torso as the base for a custom because it's so skinny and I know ultimately I'll be building it up some with sculpted effects. I've been cutting down the limbs of the Groot to fit the new height I'm going for, which should be right around 7 inches when completed. I know that will still make him taller than he appears in the movie, but given how big I've seen him in comic and cartoon art, I figure it'll do.

The hardest part so far has been shaping the remaining stumps of Namor limbs to plug into the scaled down Groot donor parts, creating the level of enhanced articulation that I want:

Groot is coming along quite nicely! The torso sculpting looks spot on for the tree bark look. I'll be interested in seeing this one finished...

This is looking really nice. I bought a Chinese Groot a while back that has jack articulation, this is giving me all kinds of ideas on what to do with it.

Ditto, but I'll gladly spectator the crap out of this build.

SO glad I bashed my Groot bits onto an ML AIM fig - no way I'd want to undertake a sculpting job like that.

Looking awesome so far, Spinny - really looking forward to the finished product.

And that Drax is sweet! - are those IM legs? And where's the belt from?

Those are indeed IM legs and a DCIH fodder figure donated the belt. Maybe Arsenal?

Thanks to you and all for the words of encouragement on Groot. They gave me much-needed energy to push through and (hopefully) finish him this week:

I'm quite pleased with how he turned out. And height-wise I think he's pretty much exactly where I want him to be:
