they seem to be having a real problem with people only wanting to pledge if they can get the mountain playset. and the playset isn't really part of their own deal.

Yep, very much so the core is the figures. Everything else was just some extras to give some people a little more. That said, I agreed to an addition 15 bases since the demand is so overwhelming. These 15 go live tonight at 8PM Pacific Time. If you have interest in the ALL IN, be ready. I would imagine these will go just as fast as the 10 when I agreed to bump up to that. I'll be at maximum though to be able to guarantee delivery within a time frame of getting the figures. Just wanted to give a heads up over here for those who might want the ALL IN and get all the figures, the base, the comm station, both glider, sticker sets, etc.

I think the playsets looks great, but I have the monster of all playsets, the Flagg, sitting boxed up along with my terror Drome, joe headquarters, and a few other bases. I just don't have the room. But if I did I would have it.

I'm not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, I want to believe that they are simply making a joke about the lack of gold uniformed figures offered in this campaign. On the other, I can't help but think that they got tired of people asking about that subject and are flipping vintage fans the bird by saying "make your own damn gold figures if that is what you want." If the pledge level were 5$, I would be inclined to believe the first. But the fact that they set it at 50$ makes me think that they are just laughing at us. Am I just reading too much into this?

that's the exact same way I took it OreoBuilder.
when all of this first started I didn't really want or expect them to make gold figures. BUT I wanted and expected them to come up with something that was still reminiscent of the eagle force gold, as I have repeatedly said I think past nastification has done with the camo color he came up with on his eagle force customs. instead we just got more plain old green generic military figures. to me nothing at all to imply that it is eagle force. but I still was going to get a few figures as I thought captain eagle looked pretty cool.
then they showed the picture of the gold captain eagle and it looked a lot better than I thought it would and I thought well gold is a little cheesy but it looks far more interesting to me than just more green dudes. but what good is just one guy running around in gold going to do me, then I saw the cat and though well cool maybe a small team of 4 or 6 in gold could be cool. but of course the gold cat was the all in exclusive so that sort of pissed me off and apparently I wasn't the only one. and while apparently in their vision of the new updated eagle force they and plenty of others think the gold figures are stupid, obviously there are plenty that do want them in gold as well so they caved and made the gold cat available. and I was happy with that, that's all I was asking. then just a few days later I see them saying they are going to show the new exclusive and make a joke about liking gold, and I'm thinking wtf? are they going to make another gold figure an exclusive? defeating the whole point of making the gold cat available.
then I get on to see what the new figure is and instead see the gold spray paint. it felt to me exactly like an unnecessary smartass flippant joke aimed directly at those of us that want some level of nostalgia in our nostalgia, like a shot at us for not preferring their modernized rebooted vision, which I was going to get some of as well. every time I'm ready to go support this kickstarter they do something to piss me off a little.

I actually just cancelled my pledge. Patronizing those that want the gold figures is a really weird thing to do. I think I'll send my money to that KS with the ape warriors when they put it back up for another try. I thought those apes were cool figures and held off because of this eagle force and the forthcoming western themed KS.

I don't have a pledge yet to cancel, but was prepping one when news broke about maybe having 3 gold figures to build around. Now I think I'll take them up on their offer and use my $5 can of gold paint to make my own. Will give me some use of figures languishing in my fodder bin.

I also agree, I was up for something not vintage gold, if it still felt like Eagle Force. But generic army men are already too numerous on the market to justify that price for me.

I really, really like the look of these figures but I have no need for any of them. I might be interested in Thule because he looks cool, but I have no attachment to the idea.

The gold paint might be meant as sarcasm, but I understand fully both sides of the argument.

There's supposed to be a "The Goldie Hawks" announcement tonight. Given the stupid gold spray paint last time, I'm not getting my hopes up. If it is some other lame joke I'm cancelling my pledge. I want to support this project, I like a lot of what has been shown, but being condescending to the fans supporting it isn't the way to go about it.

Here's the thing - they already have the tooling, and they are already using gold paint, why not just have a pledge level for gold painted figures of a certain amount or type? Then they can keep their modern decos and still throw a bone at the small (or maybe more than that) group of backers who like the vintage style?
