I kind of agree. At first, I pledged all-in to the tune of $480, but then I thought about it and reduced it to the choose-5-figures-pledge. Now I realize that most of the "classic" characters are stretch goals that might not be reached. Now I'm wondering when's the latest possible time that I can cancel my pledge. While the figures/designs/concepts look good, I think Fresh Monkey should have just did what Hasbro does with the Joes: ignore their ages and modernize the characters. Instead we have a few Eagle Force characters in their 70's with a bunch of original characters.

I'm "All In" and up to 5 Army Builder sets at this point. I imagine I'll end up with 7 Army sets before all is said and done. I know this line is not everything to everyone, but these guys are trying really hard to make it work. They have made so many changes based on Backer request, more so than any other KS I've been a part of. I had some of the original Eagle Force figures, as a kid so I get the nostalgia, but lets face it that line was crap, if it had any legs it would have survived the arrival of GI Joe RAH. They've taken something mediocre and made it into something awesome. The crossover potential of this line in my verse, is what has really sold me on this one. The woodland Camo "Bulldog Brigade", with a couple MTF accessories could be the best Jungle trooper we've seen in this scale. The Eagle Force Infantry Leader is the perfect base for Team-X customs. Takedown's Thunder Unit, are perfect Urban Camo generic soldiers, that would fit in almost every verse. The hole line with the exception of the Golden figures, has a "Command & Conquer" GDI vs NOD feel to it, a dream line for me. I don't think Hasbro will be giving us anything of this quality anytime soon, at this point, I would'nt be suprised that their Cinamatic Crossover Verse offerings will be nothing but 5 POA crap.

You can cancel a KS pledge at any moment up to the time the clock runs down. Once that happens, the KS program will automatically try to run your card info to auto-deduct whatever your last pledge amount is, although I've noticed a delay between closing time and receipt of my payment-confirmation email fwiw.

That's your only honorable option for cancelling; however you could change your card info to nonsense infor so the KS can't auto-deduct it. Since KS campaigners want your money, all campaigns I've been part of have sent reminder emails to get stragglers to pay up if their card info was bad or their accounts empty when the campaign ended; but there will eventually come a time when they'll simply cancel your pledge entirely so you have no chance to get any rewards. I'm ignorant of whether this has any negative repurcussions on your KS account although I'd imagine excessive instances of not paying a pledge would result in being banned from KS.

I think this is an indicator of Murphy not really being a lifelong 18th fan, and not really understanding how we're different from other collector/customizing communities.

AdrienVeidt,
I think the changes have helped their campaign. I've made some suggestions on other campaigns that have completely been ignored or darn right scoffed at. They have even offered a minimum figure count for the "All Ins",to make that a great deal, regardless of the amount of Stretch Goals Unlocked. That's Something I hope "Dime Store Legends" considers, or they are going to see their "All Ins" start dropping like flies if most of the figures are not unlocked.

I'm glad some people like it. Of course, they can't be all things to all people. However, they could have released pretty much the same line without the Eagle Force name. All in all, I'm disappointed that they branded it Eagle Force without acknowledging that there are fans that want a classic 4" EF line. To some, soldiers in gold uniforms are silly. To others, they are part of their childhoods and so are seen through the veil of nostalgia. So everytime they say it was silly or crap, they come off as disrespectful to some of the people that they are trying to get money from. Maybe it's not intentional, but that's what it looks like.

I was going back and forth on pledging to the campaign. For me, the spray can was the jab that changed it from maybe, to definite no.

Actually, according to Megomuseum.com
"According to then Mego chairman Martin Abrams, Eagle Force was poised to be a smash hit, the initial inventory had blown out at Target stores over the course of one weekend. Indicators of a hit in the toy world. Sadly, it was a case of too little, too late for the World's Greatest Toy company. Mego was done at retail and in 1982, closed it's doors forever. Eagle Force was too young a line to be picked up by another company (certain Mego items such as Magna Doodle and The Micronauts would find homes) So by 1982, the hopeful line had become an Orphan."

So maybe the original wasn't so bad ;-)

I've no previous knowledge of EF. Not sure if they made it to the UK or whether I'm a year or two too young. I hear what people are saying about this not necessarily being a reflection of the original line. I felt like that on a previous KS that was using the Adventure People name.

I like some of the figures in this KS, but it may depend on what gets unlocked as to whether I pledge or not. With Marauder Valkyrie items due to drop in the next month or so and also some other interesting KS soon, I may just pass.

I wouldn't do that. I'll just stay up on the day and see what happens.

Oh, I'm not recommending anybody do that or deliberately back out of a pledge that's come due. Like I say, the only honorable way is to cancel before the campaign ends. I'm just listing all the possibilities I know of.

yes somehow or other those new adventure people are associated with this eagle force kickstarter. they have said before that part of their success depended on how well that adventure people went and that they would be interusing parts with each other. so they are taking nostalgia lines and leaving out the actual nostalgia. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

^ yep. A very valid point not commented on a ton.

Also, the frustrating thing is this - they already have the molds, they are already working in gold. Seems they could simply have every figure or set be available in modern or gold, and no extra cost, no controversy, and probably more backers.

That said, they are funded, so congrats. I'm honestly not bitter. It just made decision making easier for me.

The Captain Action molds I think only helps them for the torsos and arms of a few figures, and the ankle balls; so they don't 'already have the molds' for these guys.

Sorry if I was confusing. Part A was there are two companies out there cashing in on nostalgia names without really doing nostalgia work. That ended the Captain Action reference.

Part B was Eagle Force only. They are making the figures either way, since they are funded. That's what I mean by they will already have the molds. Running them in Gold for whoever selects that fictional option would seem to add no cost. Complete your form, select modern or gold. Why was this simple solution not considered, is my question.

I wasn't suggesting that the one shared mold had anything to do with it. But also not suggesting they should go sculpt a bunch of new figures to match vintage designs. The gold alone would hit that point.

Does that make more sense?

I'm in for just Captain Eagle, unless things go bananas and Ultima Thule and Redwing get unlocked.

Well, to add to the confusion; Adventure People/Captain Action/Remco/Fresh Monkey Fiction/Zica/Eagle Force are all the same company. I was being literal that the Action torso and arms will be used for a couple of these EF figures (Stryker and the Fire Troopers) and that all figures in both lines will have the swivel/hinge/swivel ankles.

So far as I'm aware, of course.

I knew what you meant, and I understood most all of that already as well. I think you have the right of it.

The cleaner point for me was the cost of appeasement of a small yet vocal part of the prospective customer base could have been nil compared to minimal effort to bring in a decent chunk of additional buyers.

Assuming some conceit that are others like the vocal few here, anyway. ;)
