**** that's supposed to pop and flex starts sliding , warping and cracking. Mark don't you have a 3D printer on hand? What would it take to get you to test print a ball and socket piece at this scale :-D ? A ball tip on the end of a vertical rod encased in the mid arm would work (like ARAH joes but without the mushroom tip swivel piece).

Quite simply, these are amazing feats of engineering, to be able to mass produce something of this quality in plastic.

I could certainly try it, but working up a design that is actually sturdy at this size is a big thing to overcome. Plus, I think it'd have to be printed fairly slowly to minimize warping. (if my OLO would ever show up, I could try printing it in light-curing resin for better precision.) I have actually played around with printing my own designs, but MB is the smallest I've printed with moving parts. At this scale, a working elbow swivel would be really fragile. The best option would be the elbow being completely ball-jointed, but that adds new issues. It will probably be next week before I can try anything, but I'm definitely game to try it. I might just try printing my Slog figure scaled down and see if it works.

Dr Bob; if you've got DiaDudes in-hand, exactly why aren't we getting comparison pics with MBs? Hmm?!? Care to explain yourself, young man? Don't make me use your middle name in front of all your little friends!!!

Well, they're almost half the size of MB, so that's going to make it kind of tricky. The Dias, from pics I've seen, seem more proportionate, though. I don't even care about getting the armor and bots and stuff, I just need to order some of the 8-packs and get to customizing.

Heya gents, I'm at the j-o-b at the moment, but should be able to oblige once I get back to the Lab.

Photobucket's being a jerkface and won't let me upload at the moment :-/

I wonder if PB got caught in the big hack fiasco today. Thanks in advance!

You backed the OLO (ONO) as well? Another example of similar taste Mark. Truth be told after I spoke with the OLO designer in the 11th hour I pulled my early bird pledge because they had shattered the amount needed goal and didn't need my money. I know they'll have units available almost immediately after shipping to beta testers (backers) so I'll grab one then. Have you see the latest video of the team at the World Maker Faire? They were interviewed by Adafruit and had a non working unit on hand. The website is gearing up for sales currently.

ANYWAY heh I've considered printing using a dlp for precision but most dlp materials seem fragile / don't seem on par with a strong ABS except OLO's resin. The only other option seems to be Shapeways line of materials .

I'll take hinge swivel elbows however I can get them but the hinge elbow Takara employed on the Diaclone figures looks damn sturdy at this scale .A 1.5mm diameter swivel rod would be strong enough in ABS.

Yup, I backed the olo. I've wanted an sls style printer for some time and for under $100 I couldn't say no, even if it's small in print area.

I'm hoping Sunday I can do some printing.

Holy crap, those are indeed teeny-tiny. Pics with MBs demonstrate that like no other pics I've seen yet.

Um, how about a pic with an MB and the PowerSuit?

Don't have a power suit just yet, unfortunately, just this Summer's first new Diaclone release (Dia Battles V2 in red & blue, w/ 4 pilots).

I'm gonna be a meanie and share the one review that absolutely sold me on this toyline. It's in Japanese, but the photos are huge and fantastic… Dianauts shown with all kinds of different lines, from original Diaclone/Transformers to 1/48 Scopedogs all the way to a half-dressed Obama 12" figure.

Pretty sure after seeing this review, I was placing my order via BBTS within 24 hours…

…And while I don't have a Powersuit just yet, I just might have something to hold ya over. Sounds like it's time for an outside photoshoot after finishing my coffee.

That did it... I'm in for at least 1 figure pack at minimum.

The only reason i didn't purchase the teal Votoms Fatty in the past is because Mega Bloks figures wouldnt fit inside. I went up in scale for that reason. I've always liked the Fatty design and now i'll have mini human drivers and pilots.

Christ that was nerdy lol.

Fatty was THE "accessory" I had to own to go with my Dianauts.

The thought wouldn't let me sleep until I found one on eBay for a pittance... then I saw the first Gundam model I ever built for $9, and had to grab that... then the new 4" Wreckgar and 4" Wheelie from Combiner Wars... and then a 4" K-2SO as a different giant robot friend...

It's a bad, bad addiction.

Right now I'm getting ready for a shopping excursion with Missus Dr. Strange to track down materials for a custom Dianaut playset... :shifty:
