I just picked up TerriBull and Nightbeat. I should've paid more attention to reviews so I wouldn't expect them to be able to pilot both vehicle modes, but I can fiddle them both around to finagle it decently enough. I was hoping the singles would have the pinned hips like the Wave 1 heads had, but I'm thinking the singles' delay has been to refit them to snap-on hips like the Wave 2 heads. I was wanting to experiment cutting the boots apart to give them that added artic, but alas and alack it doesn't seem to be in the stars. My only real option for that now is to get another Blurr for customizing to another Wipeout homage and giving him one of these single heads in case I fail. I wonder if Blurr's raising helmet crest can be incorporated to another headbot.

Is anyone else having an issue with Nightbeat's drilltank/plane? Mine's righthand tread piece keeps pushing away from the cockpit/drill swivel hinge, but I'm thinking it's an issue with where one of the two yellow bits plug in. I'm thinking I'll take out the yellow bit that the headbot's head plugs into out entirely, and use the socket on one of the bigger Deluxe's with a loose neck socket, probably Highbrow. I hate Nightbeat not being able to drive the drill tank mode anyway, so it won't be any loss to lose the socket here. I'm thinking I'll then cut the drill off from the cockpit and flip it around so its hollow underbelly faces up along with the cockpit, then I can just flip it over and close the wings to have a drilltank mode he can drive.

And dammit, I just realized that won't work for a couple reasons. Dammit, Hasbro! Must you vex me so!

I had got to the point that I had swore off Transformers - the quality had seemed to go down as the prices went up. However, the Titan series got me sucked back in. I didn't help this weekend that Walmart dropped the prices on the Headmasters to $9.88, so I ended up with a few I had been on the fence for. I'm up to Dirge, Blur, Skullcrusher, Galvatron, and four of the individually packaged figures who's names I ignored. Watching the old cartoons, if they are still on sale, I think I might need a few more Sweeps. Combine that with the Dianauts (that preorder was put in this weekend) and I'm happy messing with my Transformer collection again (wallet be damned).

Yeah, I was cold to the Combiners theme as you had to buy six figures to get the gimmick effect, but with TR it's all in one package. Since they come with their own drivers I can also free myself from the need for altmodes to be 18th scale. These guys can just be a race of midgety robots living alongside 18th humans.

I'm loving the TR line. I just wish they'd throw in some TargetMasters, too. They've done a couple in the past, but I'd like more of them.
Right now, my scales are:
1:18 - GI Joe only, with a couple of generic bots I've found that fit in
~1:32 (ranges anywhere from 1:30 to 1:36 or smaller, if you count jets) - MegaBlok figures and Masterpiece, Leader, and some Voyager class TFs
~1:48 (again, ranges by alt mode. I prefer bot mode scale, anyway) - CHUG TFs and hopefully soon some Dianauts. Dianauts are a bit small for the typical CHUG car, but I'm willing to fudge it.
~1:72 - Legends class TFs and Titans - no humans in this scale, yet, but may get froggy and print some or something.
~1:87 (HO gauge/scale) - WST and compatible TFs, HO trains, HO models and figures

Each gets its own little section and they live happily, separately. I've toyed with the idea of setting up displays so that the smaller scales were behind the larger ones to do some forced perspective stuff, but that'd only look good from a certain viewing angle. 1:18 (and thereabouts) will always have a special place in my collection, but with the new lines that are half the size or smaller, with almost the same articulation, I find myself content with the 1:18 I already have and letting the smaller scales get my money. Even when I was a kid, playing was more about world building than having figures fight or anything, so being able to set up vast dioramas in small areas is just fantastic for me.

Nope, I'm 18th 'til I die. All these li'l guys are still 18th scale to me, just midgety aliens. I only get MBs to use as is in the case of the Covenant and Destiny aliens or fodder for funny animal critter dude customs. For me, the first T in TMNT now stands for 'Toddler'.

That's cool. I've just always been like Myron Reducto (esq.) when it comes to action figures - the tinier, the better, as long as they have articulation. Smaller size AND more articulation? Goodbye, He-Man; helloooo, GI Joe. The only problem I had with Fort Apache or the little green army men when I was a kid was that they were static. I needed articulation, but I loved the size.

BAM, talk about service! I just picked up Brainstorm and he's an improvement over Blurr in nearly every way (I'm rather fond of Blurr's extending helmet crest). Finally, my Wipeout Racing League can have a race!

But now I gotta find another TR 'Con to balance the ranks. Two since I plan to get Chromedome whener he shows up.

Awesome. I actually just got a call from a local fellow collector who found several Brainstorms and is snagging one for me, so I don't have to go hunt for him. Can't wait to add him to the collection.

Wolfy's very cool, although I did some tweaking to the yellow shinpads on his rear legs as they're very kibbley and I wanted his artic maxed, as well as monkeying with the gray bit at his ass to max his waist swivel.

But Skullcruncher's the overall best of the 7 I have.

I go back and forth between Skullcruncher and Mindwipe as to who's my favorite. It should be Weirdwolf (Wolfwire), because he was my favorite as a kid. But the figure is just a bit lacking. I have Function X-02 Quadruple U, who is better overall than Hasbro's figure, except the terrible hand design -- they did this thing where his dewclaw swivels around to become his thumb. A good idea, but poorly executed, in my opinion. If I could combine aspects of QU and WW, then he'd be perfect.

Unrelatedly, if you're wanting some decent quality, cheap, beast bots to possibly mod into transtectors for the extra heads, you could do worse than the Fight The Beast line. I have the Fox that I use as a turbo-fox for Mirage to hunt, but I'm considering buying some others to mod into bodies for the heads. I think the elephant would make a great body for Loudmouth. I'm thinking the rhino for Crash Bash or Apeface, not sure on the rest. I'm already buying RiD figures to behead and turn into transtectors, but I think it'd be fun to have some beast transtectors, too, especially for the heads that are from, or based on, figures that were originally beasts.

I gotta hand it to Walgreen's - at least when they have Exclusives, you can actually find them. Got both me and my son Brainstorm today.

So I got this down sized knock off Alternators Subaru figure. For $10, it's not bad, simplified, but no worse than some Hasbro offerings. Only downsides - the roof is an add on that is unused and loose in bot mode, and the head is just a flat piece that just doesn't cut it.

Luckily, the head is on a ball joint and the socket is on the body instead of the head. With just a quick hit from the Dremel, the socket fits a TR head:
