How did this fly under the radar?

Well, y'see; that's pretty obviously a non-flying ground vehicle, and thus would easily have driven under our radar. Which is apparently what it did. It makes me wish they'd just redo the whole G1 Micronauts line at this scale so we could get all them keen vehicles again.

Since it was pointed out to me that Wheelie can indeed seat a headbot when he's in car mode, I've now picked up Wheelie. He's pretty keen and very articced in bot mode, although a bit fiddly and unstable in car mode. I've a fondness for the TFs that are 4" in bot mode, going all the way back to Beast Wars Insecticon whom I still think is one of the greats.

So, what about Rewind? Is there a headbot seat behind his tank turret, or only the footpegs on top of it to give him headbot-interactivity?

The Diaclone tank thing-y is kinda cool, but not for the bazillion dollars it's probably gonna cost. If the little power suits are $40 (before shipping), I'm almost afraid to ask. HOWEVER, this could be negotiated if it's some kind of fold-out Mobile Command Center-esque vehicle for Dianauts, but it doesn't look like it's gonna do that. So, er, yeah.

During the wait for Diaclone vehicles, accessories, and whatnot, I've just been picking up anything in scale loose & cheap ( :shifty: ) on eBay (Buy It Now ftw!). They look especially cool with Action Fleet... Great! Something else to collect!

I've also slowly but surely started collecting pieces for a kitbashed Diaclone base... really just a box with a bunch of greebles, old GI JOE accessories, and maybe even a console from a classic playset...

Some months back i began building my own vehicles and bases from scratch. I didn't mold and cast as i did in years past. I chose not to 3D print or use injection tooling. I used good ol' papercraft and made some really kick ass and durable creations that i could scale up or down at my leisure. I mention this because you're right 'Strange...that vehicle will probably cost a car payment and despite how bad ass it looks the value wont match the sticker price like my creations did ( you can't beat free). However if the price isn't as bad as all of the other products suggest...

In addition you mentioned building a base and HOLY CRAP have i got some kick ass templates for bases , vehicles , bunkers, etc. .

I've been looking for items in scale with the figures as well since this thread started. Manta Force. Multimac. Galoob. Inner Space. Action Fleet. I ultimately paused as i'd like to have a figure in hand before i splurge. I want to figure out where i'm going with these little dudes.

Feel free to toss some search terms my way . I haven't gone down the 1/72 scale rabbit hole yet.

Some years ago i went to to a thrift store looking for some old item and came across a large bag of Manta Force ships and Astronaut Pilots for dirt cheap. I passed on them as , at the time , i wasn't collecting that scale and real life was interrupting my hobby time.

.... i've been regretting that decision majorly for the last 2 weeks

What about the 90s Mighty Max line?

Gonna have to check out some of the larger Mighty Max stuff to see what might work with Dianauts. Ditto with the old Trendmasters War Planets.

The scale thing is interesting. Dianauts are 1/60 scale (officially from Takara), though 1/64-1/72 scale items work well (depends on what it is), and then there're things like the 1/48 Scopedog that just so happens to accomodate Diaclone.

Been experimenting with papercraft for the base, with mixed results... it looks cool, but also really, really flat & boxy. I've been mixing both greebly bits and Dianaut-scale accessories to get something I'm happy with. The main structural elements have been decided upon, but I'm still finalizing the layout.

I've checked out a lot of the Mighty Max stuff and personally found most of it not to my taste. However there are some Mighty Max knock offs out there that aren't bad at all.

For all of your "Will it work with Diaclone Dianauts?" needs :

There is a treasure trove of pictures in that link showing Diaclone with various toy lines.

If the Dianauts are 1/60, then look for 28mm miniature gaming terrain and accessories. There's a lot of cool sci-fi accessories and environment out there.
At the 30mm scale, even the Warhammer 40K vehicles would be compatible... vehicles and aliens...
Plus it would be easy to find various head sculpts to create unique characters... Curses! Something else to buy.

'Doc Strange...

Can the Diacone Dianauts arms pop off and on at the shoulder without breaking the shoulder stem ala minimates?

Takara says they're 1/60, but the figures are a hair over 1" tall. So far, my philosophy is that if it looks like the Dianauts could interact with it, I'm using it, regardless of scale.

Warhammer stuff is just slightly larger, but looks rad anyway. I've been having a ton of fun kitbashing stuff for the playset by cannibalizing old Warhammer/JOE playsets, etc. It's got a mix of A LOT of toylines, as well as custom pieces.

They don't, but this is for the best. At first I was disappointed, not gonna lie, cuz I wanted to customize the hell out of these. They're so small, though, that if the limbs popped off, they'd be super-fragile. For as tiny as they are, my Dianauts feel sturdy. I handle them with care, but they're not going to fall apart in your hands.

EDIT: PS- Keep it locked to my custom thread; should have some updates coming late this week and into this weekend. Mega Bloks, 4", ARAH-style, even... The Missus will be out of town and I'll be... taking pictures of toys. Yowzah, I live a life of excitement ;-)

I monkeyed with Wheelie's head to fit a headbot noggin to make him a Headmaster, to do something with MindWipe's headbot, pistol, and shield/blades.

Randomly thought about Diaclone this morning while having coffee...

HYPOTHETICALLY:

What if Hasbro licensed the Dianauts from Takara-Tomy to sell in North America, but as a part of a reboot of Kre-o?

It's a waste that Hasbro has such a great library of properties, but Kre-o sucks.

Currently, there's no point in trying to out-do LEGO in the brick or stylized minifigure category... but then it's also pointless for them trying to go the Mega Construx route by working with licenses/characters LEGO won't/can't.

Now, Hasbro-made Dianaut-style super-poseable micro figures with buildable modular playsets & vehicles could be a cool, alternate take on block toys & figures while also working with their toylines like Transformers... a sorta modern version of Capsela/Capsenauts/Spacelink building sets.

Whaddayathink?

I would love that. I hate Lego figures and similar brick figures. I like MB well enough, but even they are just a bit too stylized for me. I just deal with it. But if I could get some properly proportioned figures in 1:36 or smaller (since these guys are about 1:72), I'd be all over that like you wouldn't believe.
