The powered armor suits just keep getting better. I didn't think I'd like anything more than suit D in white but suit C above ...whew. ..

I'm trying to stop collecting and focus more on building but Diaclone (and discounted mega bloks ) is making it difficult .

Something that popped into my head last night while working with some of my Dianauts was a set of little green army men I had when I was a kid. They weren't the standard LGAMs, being about an inch tall instead. They looked just like the LGAMs, just smaller. I had gotten them at some mom and pop general store in a bag containing the little guys, a couple of jets, and a couple of tanks. They're long gone now, but I wish I still had them for background figures with my Dianauts. I may have to track some down on Amazon.

Funny you mention them.

Instead of traditional 2-2.5" LGAM figures, the 1" version are the ones I remember the most growing up. Back in the 80s, they were available as party favors and even as pack-ins with candy like Toblerone. I remember amassing an army while visiting distant relatives in Germany 30+ years ago.

The best set was one that came with four groups of soldiers-- American (forest green), German (gray), Russian (red-brown), and Japanese (tan)-- with detailed, unique sculpts and good casting quality. My guess is that they were knock-offs molded from 1/72 scale soldiers of the world, or something... they were very high quality for 1" figures, especially at that time.

Yeah, that's the thing I remember - they were really well detailed for their size. I found these as well as some on Amazon. I found others, too, but these are the ones that remind me most of the ones I had as a kid. A pic for those not wanting to follow the links:

Can the Diaclone figures be found at brick and mortar stores or only online?

I see there are preorders popping up for another set of 8 drivers. Not fond of the "Raiders"esque paint scheme, but I'll still get the set - gotta love these figures.

Question - was the blue/gray pilots the only set previously released? I've seen the pics of sets with red and yellow pilots, but seem to remember people saying those figures were never released in an 8 pack.

As far as i know yes. I haven't seen any other 8 pack shown in North America or in Japan ("Asia" in general). I'v been preoccupied with other things lately though so something could have slipped under my radar.

I got my 'Biotron' in, and whoever wants this Star Polot the most will PM me first. I'll be keeping the gun and treads that form his tank, though.

The blue pilots were the first 8-pack released, and the upcoming silver pilots are #2.

The red Dianauts are from the first standard-release Diaclone reboot figure (red & blue robot), and the yellow Dianauts are from the alternate gray & yellow-orange colorway. If memory serves, the first releases came with a bonus 4th Dianaut. My red & blue robot came with four pilots, but I can't speak for the yellow dudes. Don't have any just yet...

When I ordered via BBTS, I asked their AMAZING customer service team, and they verified the 4th Dianaut. If you're thinking of picking one up, definitely ask, man!

A height comparison pic between Biotron and MU Colossus. As you can see he's basically 32nd scale instead of 18th, but I can live with it as he's so nice in all other respects. I'm gonna try to 3D design a piece to go in his chest to cover up the big empty hole under the orange window. I've no use for the Star Polot (as they call him on the box, lol) and I'm sure one of you guys would appreciate him. He's got individual swivels at shoulders and hips.

Biotron has a ball neck, ball-on-a-hinge shoulders, swivel hindarm, double-hinge elbows, swivel wrist, swivel waist, ball hips, swivel thighs, double-hinge knees, and hinge&rocker ankles. The treads on his back split wider and connect the gun to be a minitank for the Polot, but I'll be keeping both.

I remember the smaller army men also - fit in great with matchbox scale. Actually, wasn't this also the same size as the figures that came with the old Joe train set?

another question, and sorry if it's been addressed. How do HeroClix figures compare to the dianauts?

I think you might be right about the Joe train set. ~1" is close to HO scale, which that train was. Oh man, now I'm thinking I need to track down one of those trains for a Dianaut setup.

Sorry, not a Heroclix guy, so not sure, but looking at a pic of Heroclix Hellboy by a ruler, I'd say HC is just a bit bigger than Dianaut, but probably close enough to work.
