So the previews of the new HACKS fantasy figs inspired me test out a few fantasy figures of my own, to see how invested I would be in the genre. Early returns are positive.

I started with a Ranger and with an eye toward making a traditional D&D adventure party. I always used make Cavaliers and Paladins, but a Ranger better fits what I want to do with this set (since the armored knights will be well represented by BFS).

For the Ranger, you may not be able to tell, but that is a HACKS base under there. Torso/waist/hardware/shoulder joints are all HACKS.

I'll have more pics and figures tomorrow

thanks guys.

AV - these are the best WIP shots I have. This is literally the very first build I started, before I decided on the Loki lower coat (skirt).

Image

then I looked at a second skirt idea, and tried out my first set of legs
Image

Then with the skirt, but having not yet figured out the leather armor fully
Image

In the end I decided I liked the Loki legs better too. Normally I'd have done the hip fix a little different, but since I had so much of him built by then, I simply chopped off these Zartan upper thighs and fused it to the Loki legs.

here's how he looks from the back

and some water/wine/potions

(the paint has been cleaned up on the sleeves and trim since this pic)

I am making him part of a unique order of Rangers. More from that group to be made in the future. For now, though, he's found some traveling companions.

First is a traditional D&D wizard, presently named "Not Gandalf"

A dwarf named "Not Gimli" - seriously, always looking for ideas on names.

An Elven mage

(better pic and backstory to follow)

And a blurry because brazenly stolen from a customizer on FB Red Sonja

These are great.

I've had that Loki body on a shelf for a long time thinking about what I could do with it. Between seeing this and the amount of time I've spent playing Neverwinter in the past month, I'm feeling all kinds of inspired now.

Excellent work on all of them. I wish I had the eye for parts and fantasy figures that you do. Really inspiring work.

Thanks E, and pluv for the ideas. Thanks for all the comments. Also newwave, and serpentor- the answer to your questions is the same: prince of Persia. The cloak was from the deluxe version with the horse (with a simple string tying it together), and he belt isnfrom the basic Dastan figure
