Thought I would introduce you to some customs I did a couple of years back when I got back into customising 1:18 scale again after several years in the wilderness.

I always enjoyed the Micronauts comics from Marvel, and loved playing with the toys when i was a kid. Unfortunately, until the re-launch, some of the figures were not widely available across here.

I started out doing the Acroyear figure, then thought: why do the characters from the comic? Why not make up my own characters, based on the continuity, but with their own back story.

Well, here goes:

Prince Spartak:
Image Image Image

Removable Helmet: Sculpted
Head: Mission Disc Roadblock
Figure: Spy Troops Iron Grenadier
Armour: Large Beads cut in half, and sculpted
Sword: Stikfas Omega Knight
Glider Pack: Pallisades Acroyear

Bio: Prince Spartak is the son of Prince Acroyear and Lady Cilicia. He was brought up within the martial and warrior culture of the Acroyear race as its future monarch, being named after their destroyed Homeworld. He became fascinated with his long dead father, and although his mother refused to speak of Acroyear, he learned all he could from the archives, even going to Homeworld to retrieve his father's helmet and energy blade, and modelling his own armour after that worn by his sire. Although he was brought up as a warrior, he far preferred to study the history of the Microverse, bringing him into conflict with his mother, and earning her scorn. She believed that he had become as soft as his father. Against her wishes, he enrolled in a course at the newly built Homeworld University, located on The Central World. He was involved in an archaeological dig around the old palace when all contact was lost with the team.

Knave:

Head/Torso/Arms: Mission Disc Roadblock
Hands: JvsC Flint
Armour: Spy Troops + Stikfas + Sculpted
Helmet: CLAWS Commander
Antennae: Wire + clay
Feet: Sculpted
Legs: Spy Troops Overkill
Rocket Lance: Stikfas Omega Knight Spear plus Rocket from Delta Boy Extreme

Bio: Knave is the son of Bug and Jasmine. He had disappeared before the end of the first rebellion against Karza, so Jasmine saw no need to tell Bug about him straight away, and she died before she had the chance. After the final battle for homeworld and its resurrection, Knave learned who his father was and became bitter that he had not remained on Kaliklak to be a proper father, blaming The Micronauts for keeping his father away. Excelling in his studies and in combat, he joined the Kaliklak Defence Force and soon rose to be Queen's Champion and Captain of the Royal Guard. Kaliklak prospered until a sudden attack on the Royal Citadel by Acroyear Warriors and Dog Soldiers left the Queen and thousands of her subjects dead. Interrogating a dying Dog Soldier, Knave learned that the attack had been ordered by Baron Karza, and that teh Acroyears were now his staunchest supporters. Leaving Kaliklak for the first time, he has set out the exact a terrible revenge for the atrocities commited on his race.

Baron Karza:
Image Image Image

Removable Helmet: Sculpted (Horns from Chap Mei figure)
Head: BTR Gung Ho
Body: JvsC Cobra Commander (hands removable)
Armour: Sculpted

Bio: Baron Karza is known as the most heinous tyrant the Microverse has ever known. Believed dead for twenty five years, he has returned, once more seeking to enslave the people of the Microverse in his iron grip. Little is currently known about his resurrection, except that during an archaeological dig on the Body Banks, the Dean of History, Professor Gent, for Homeworld University, disappeared inside the main building and has not been seen again. Not long after he entered The Body Banks, they powered up and 48 hours later, a squad of Dog Soldiers were seen in the vicinity.

Major Synne:
Image

Figure: Mission Disc Recondo
Armour: Various Spy Troops + sculpted

Bio: Major Synne is the head of the Elite Burning Skull Legion of Baron Karza's shock troops, The Dog Soldiers. Absolutely nothing is known about the origins of this man. Not even his race, although it is suspected that he is an Acroyear. The voice filter on his helmet makes identification impossible. What is known is that wherever he and his legion appear, devastation and death follow.

Dog Soldier:
Image

Figure: BTR Gung Ho
Armour: Various Spy Troops + Stikfas

Bio: Trooper with the Elite Burning Skull Legion serving under Major Synne. Utterly loyal to Baron Karza. Unquestioning and completely obedient. Utterly ruthless. The race of these troopers is unknown, although humanoid. It is suspected that they are rapidly aged clones, or that they have been in suspended animation in the vaults of the Body Banks.

These all look great. It's easy to tell that a lot of work went into each of them.

Very cool! I really like how you incorporate design elements from the original figures into your own characters.

Those are great! The time spent on them was well worth it. Can't wait to see more.

Hadn't really thought about that, but I see what you mean.Make the helmet completely enclosed, add a bit of armour and give it a red an gold colour scheme. Think I will have a llok at what armour I have left.

MicroNauts: the most under-appreciated property of all time. Good to see them getting some of the love they so very deserve. Quite nice stuff, bro. Nice head choice for unmasked Karza, too.
