On the bright side, a new company is creating Joes, On the downside, I'm not so sure about the aesthetic of this figure, for the cost, which is $230:

Here's more pics on GeneralsJoes (shout out to Justin/General Hawk)
http://generalsjoes.com/2017/07/19/bait-1000toys-and-alpha-industries-announce-comiccon-exclusive-duke/

I like the idea of the cyborg storyline, but at the same time, they have this figure in a very basic pose, and the only thing signifying that it's Duke is that he's got blond hair on his fake human head. He does wear khaki BDU pants and a green jacket, but it doesn't really resemble anything Duke's worn.

He's wearing a jacket that's supposedly a replica of the real life jacket they're selling, but there are multiple differences between the two jackets. In addition, the 1/6 jacket has this massive zipper on it. I've paid 15 bucks for 1/6 Tekken figures with proportional zippers, so on this figure, especially at this pricepoint, it makes it look more like a toy than an actual shrunken down cyborg soldier that's supposedly Duke.

I know that this is mainly a 1/18 board, but is anyone on here considering buying it?

All of the Bait products perplex me. The best I can say is, "well, it's different."

The jacket is nice. I'm just not sure squeezing Duke into the BAIT cyborg story is a good thing. Neat, but not something I want to hunt down.

Uh...okay. That's... something, alright.

So the GI Joe brand is pretty much just sitting in an empty room lit by one bare lightbulb, muttering the lyrics to "Hurt" by NIN and loading a revolver at this point, huh?

I'd like to see the Venn diagram of "GI Joe character collectors", cyborg collectors, and 12" collectors that this seems to be aimed at. I have a feeling the diagram would look similar to my thoughts on the figure, which can be summed up as:

...

I like the NIN cover, but I prefer the original Johnny Cash version much more :whistling:

I found something even more confusing, take a look at this figure, from the Anti-CARB squad, also made by 1000Toys:

Check out that zipper pull. See how proportional it is? And this is a figure that is probably 60 bucks cheaper than Duke will end up becoming. How does a company put out an amazing zipper pull on a 150 dollar figure, then put something out that looks like it's Hall of Fame lolhuge on a 210-230 dollar figure?

I would never pay anything close to that for a figure. A figure that looks good.

I think it's great that they made a line of action figures based on the doodles of an eighth grader who eventually has a special page in the yearbook.

Apparently it's based off of some manga. But it's clearly a manga based on the doodles of an eighth grader with the special page in the yearbook.

I don't get it.

It's been a few days since this news was released and I still don't get it.

Why do they even have to wear a skinsuit and clothing? If they are just basically downloading the mindwaves/memories of long dead JOEs into the processing unit, clothing and skin isn't necessary.

Trying to capture the Toyminator people?
