For those of you unfamiliar with Resident Evil, William Birkin s one of the core scientists exploring usage of "T" virus and its other forms. He ends up mutating several times in RE2 and becomes the ultimate baddy for the game. For my holiday project, I've been working for the past few weeks on and off on an Umbrella lab. Still don't have the parts to consider it postable but its coming together nicely. Birkin is one of several scientists to inhabit the lab once its complete. Feel free to leave any feedback. (The pic makes him seem more smiley than in person).

Head: SHS Mr. Fantastic modded
Waist, legs and arms: AOD splitting Ash
Right hand: Microman
Torso: Sculpey
Lab-coat: Dried-out baby wipes, cut and pieced together.

You know I for one can not get enough RE customs. It's nice to see a Birkin figure. My only critique (or question) is the coat- isn't it going to fall apart?

Very much diggin' it. He's got that pompous & driven look to him as well, so that's always fitting. Tie's a tiny bit large, but really liking the results. I assume you'll have several Birkins? :shifty:

I hope not. I glued the pieces together and seem to be holding so far. Was originally going to use the POTF2 Han trenchcoat with cloth arms, but it didn't look quite right.

Viper, I have several techs in the midst (hence my need for lab-coat minders). Hope to make mutated forms of Birkin, but want to try and finish the lab first.

Thanks for the comments gents!

Awesome job TR. Have you thought about using scrapbook doctor's and nurses coats? That's what I am using. The nurse uniform is fully sewn, and you just have to make an opening for the arms. The doctor's lab coat is sewn as well, but the arms are just glued in place, and need to be properly made usable, which is not a problem at all. You can even seal this muslin material with a hot melt glue gun. They are Joe scale, and fairly easy to work with. Even the kimono in the Japanese set I used for the gal in my JCA images, and everything, from kimono to obi wrap, worked out great.

Just some food for thought. If you can't find them in your area, let me know, I can get some for you here, if need be.

The Birkins were one facet that I decided not to touch, except for a now grown up Sherry Birkin. Given my Leon's and Ada's ages, Sherry Birkin would be approximately 18 to 20 years old now, so my latest RAH comic pack Lady Jaye will do nicely, when put in Sonya Blade's simple pajamas. According to game sources, even though Claire, Leon, and Sherry made it out of Raccoon, okay, and Leon promised he would take care of Sherry, it appears that in one of Wesker's reports, she is now "safely in our care now", which does not bode well for Sherry. Given what they did to poor Lisa Trevor, the architect's daughter who built the mansion and underground facilities in Arklay, poor Sherry faces horrors unimaginable. After all, it was from poor Lisa that the acquired the alphanumercal virii.

I hear Sherry makes an appearance in the upcoming games, but in what capacity, I don't know.

Again, awesome custom indeed.

Thanks for all the helpful tips and advice guys. Will try the memory book clothes, Cap. Thanks for the suggestion. Really excited to show you guys my lab dio, but it's just not ready to be posted yet. Hopefully in the next few weeks. I love RE. It's a great game series, and close enough to Joes to be do-able as customs.
